We (myself and @liquid_clear) don't claim to be making the best music in the world, we definitely don;t claim to be making the most accessible music in the world but we do make music which expresses ideas and concepts in novel and sometimes strange ways.

If you listen, thank you.

So, 's back in the UK..?
May I suggest we offer him exactly what he's been crying about for years and years..?

NO FUCKING ATTENTION WHATSOEVER..!?

Here's today's post from my fine art account, one of the successful images I made with a homemade cardboard box camera. Ridiculous that it worked at all, but I did get some interesting results.

    It's a good enough start.

    People are all over this making you a musician, a sound engineer, a videographer, a photographer, a writer or an artist... and some of the arguments are barely rational.

    All we have to do, as a community, is credit it... I know I will because what it turns out is often complete and utter shit.!

    Don't worry... it'll be there is spirit.

    I'm beginning to think we should have gone more robot body than robot brain.

    Cheers... I have a 'to listen to' list as long as my arm and now I've just had to add this to it too.

    Very very creative :)

    I use a pair of these, passive mixcubes to master my tracks... they have what's referred to as a 'useful musical range' (basically 90 Hz to 16 KHz and generally pretty flat), A/B stereo/mono and let me know what my music will sound like on a shit listening system.

    They're also good for tracking any bass being pull;ed into that range in a mix.

    I thoroughly recommend them, or similar.

    OneBlindMouse,
    @OneBlindMouse@mastodon.scot avatar

    @elsemusic
    Yeah... a single speaker with that grotty sound is important, especially for that 'does everything work' toward the end.

    I generally start in mono mixes, even on any other monitors but I use a lot of stuff that often phases.
    Hey, I still use the listening through a door sometimes.

    I listened to a couple of your tracks. They are good mixes so it must be working for you.

    OneBlindMouse,
    @OneBlindMouse@mastodon.scot avatar

    @etherdiver @elsemusic
    I wouldn't rely on the door thing too much but like your headphones accident (I live accidents that help btw) not will show up anything that doesn't balance well... out of the 'woolliness' a door provides.. ie, excessive mud.

    I'm guessing that very few of us are working in expensively treated rooms, I know I'm not and I use as many different ways to listen as I can.

    These days, I'm nearly frightened to load a piece of indie music into any kind of digital audio software...
    ...they can look a lot like solid bars of colour.

    I mean, just how much are you willing to sacrifice to be that loud..?

    This is out now...
    adventures in noise, drone and hyper-manipulation of samples using the Apex Twin Sample Brain and a lot of grain synthesis and some other weird shit...

    ...not for the faint hearted but feel free to have a listen, thank you.

    I've been using for a little while now...
    ...it's a fucking dismal promo billboard with little to no conversation.

    Imagine here with even less conversation... if that's even possible.

    People really need to get off their 'send and be celebrated' bullshit.

    OneBlindMouse,
    @OneBlindMouse@mastodon.scot avatar

    @flockofnazguls
    It's pretty dead and generally, the majority of what I see on it is promos.
    Occasionally, someone might open a conversation about music or gear or something but they die quickly.
    I still prefer it here because I get a better mix.

    This album is basically a set of studies in both reversible and non reversible audio design.

    I believe I'll see posts from there but will have to log into Lemmy to participate still.

    I think the issue is not putting stuff out. As I say, I put it out myself.
    The issue is that regardless of what is put out is put out to an extreme and that is no guarantee of quality, yet, it is always critiqued as quality.

    I like DIY but it is DIY. My own stuff is DIY.

    I'm a consumer and I just think I also want to buy good stuff... not stuff that is described as quality by a very small community.

    OneBlindMouse,

    @pomCountyIrregs
    Ahh... don't worry, I probably lost the plot ages ago.

    I'd just like to see more discussion, that's all.

    I mean, I don't mind links but I'm less likely to click one if people just repeatedly plug it without some explanation... genre etc.

    To be blunt (probably seen as cruel), nobody here is a household name and they should stop behaving like they are.

    I make music for fun, can afford to and I think I do okay but very few people listening to my genre ever offer me feedback.
