But how does that make any sense in regards to trans issues?
Like, I’d get if maybe some laws weren’t being brought to vote because it doesn’t fit the agenda for the day, but do you really think all 3 branches of our government are so embroiled in lgbtq+ issues that they aren’t making other laws? How does what politicians are discussing on social media or on television affect whether a regulatory agency is going to open their eyes and prosecute when things are put on their desk? Is the SEC (not the government, but the governments enforcers) discussing trans medicine this whole time instead of intentionally looking away from white collar theft?
Comsenting adults, fine. Consenting adults or close enough in range of statutory laws, morally dicey but I guess it’s socially acceptable. Add the fact that they were your teacher, ever, and it crosses ANOTHER line and I don’t think we can lump that many “exceptions” together without it being a big ol’ shit bundle.
The US Department of the Treasury just released a comprehensive new report about labor relations and the middle class that affirms what the workers have been screaming out for at least 150 years no…
Well yeah, because when people are in unions they often negotiate pay and the government can more effectively tax the bottom 99% versus the ultra rich.
Smaller subscription deals and the underperformance of certain titles have had a severe impact on Devolver and TinyBuild, says stockbroking firm Goodbody....
Yeah i see some defense of the studios in the comments but Devolver hasn’t released something I’ve heard of since the first Good Neighbor outside of potion craft and I only know that one because an off-handed recommendation from a friend l. Not to say I’m some penultimate opinion on games, but if your stuff doesn’t make waves I’m assuming you won’t get money.
Like, everyone wants a Stardew Valley, but only 1/10000000 indie games will receive that kind of love and only 1/100000 indie games would even deserve it. Some are legitimately awesome and present unique gameplay you can’t find anywhere else, and the rest, is shit. It’s poorly designed or implemented, it’s dated, or it’s another super generic RPG Maker level of game and those were NOT going to sell well anyway.
I dont know what the alternative is, but what it is now is shit.
Westerners don’t get it. They didn’t see citizens in Crimea and Donbas walking around in their “fuck me, Putin” shorts and their “imperialism now” borscht stained t-shirts.
The problem I often run into is, what IS a protest that isn’t disruptive that DOES get your attention? Constant bashing of anyone who disturbs the status quo because you should “only target the people directly causing the issue”, but they’ve made so many layers between them and us that the only people who can be appealed to is your fellow every day man. And he’s too busy being frustrated about not driving fast enough on the road to get to the next place he’s being fucked that the only thing he considers about your message is that it inconvenienced him.
So, what are good non-disruptive ways that get your attention and cause some form of action within the population? It can’t just be non-disruptive, people have to engage with the concept and learn/question something about their every day life from it or else it’s ineffective and people should just keep gluing themselves to things because at least that gets your attention.
You’re not wrong. My nan died the other day, fucking guy didn’t even take of his cap as they carried her through the kitchen to the backdoor. The box of Zatteran’s at least bowed its head.
I have nothing to add to your comment other than the fact that your text person clearly has a large nose and I think that’s a stylistic choice and I appreciate that as someone who also has a large nose.
I mean ,you said it was coming, you recognized the behavior as neurotic, and still opted for the smacking solution. Did you talk to your vet about ways to reduce boredom before that happened? Or about redirection training?
I saw this without chastising, but all you’re really reinforcing is to not do it when you’re around, OR you’ve reinforced a negative set of hormones being released when they feel like licking their paw. The behavior you’re trying to stop is the licking, but the behavior you probably need to stop is the underlying reason for the licking. Find more things to entertain the dog during the day, or reinforce a new behavior to replace the old one. That way, when they go to do the paw licking, a different behavior will be vying for the top braincell and whichever one feels better or floods the dog with the most positive emotion will win out. Let it be fun for the dog, not fearful.
I think it’s the fact that true tolerance would allow the burning of any book. Not all copies, not banning it from circulation, but the burning of an individual symbol as a means of expressing an idea is perfectly fine in most Americans’ view. I share that view, I understand the nuance of the situation at hand, I’m aware the quaran is a holy book and that it sends a strong message.
But so does burning the American flag, as a symbol, to show that America’s ideals and values are dead or do not apply for the people doing the burning. American flag burning was done with the intent to express that the symbol of freedom and equality that it was pushed as was not at all representative of the America those people were experiencing. America has a problem with nationalism, so much so they tossed “under god” in a “non-mandatory” (socially reinforced) pledge of allegiance you say every day before school starts all the way until you graduate. You can imagine burning the flag pissed those nationalists off too, but their vitriol and frustration is useless and unwarranted.
If you say the culture of Islam, or the culture of the people who see that book as their most holy symbol and use it to justify violence, is unwelcome in your nation, as an individual, that’s completely fine to me. I don’t love the blanket statement, but I do love that you can express it without fear of retaliation from your government and with the knowledge that you are as safe expressing that belief as you are expressing one more widely agreed upon.
If I disagree with you, I should debate you, i should seek to educate you, or be louder than you with my actions and words. That’s not the way of every place in the world, but it is the way of any civilized people. Any who condone violence in response, even provoked violence, are closer to animals than their fellow man.
I am always amazed at the amount of support and outcry I hear on the side of graffiti when it comes up on the internet. Not that it often outweighs the people who say “hands off other people’s shit”, but the number is still much larger than I expect.
I was just thinking that as I was reading this post. Yeah, so they’re not “right behind the US” in overall ability and preparedness, and NOW they’re drained financially and their populations morale is at a low point with the drafts and the prisoner-units, who else do we have all these guns for then? Who will be the next boogeyman, and have we already laid the groundwork to say it’s China?

Was just watching Jack Ryan Season 3 and seeing the display of force and their movements causes some interesting dissonance given what we know now.
