What if I trust the website, and I know the cert has expired, or TLS is just being an ass? What if I want to use a "weak" or no password? Etc.

Ok, as broken as youtube is on a low res screen, it's even more unusable on a high res screen, as the "includes payed promotion" banner that only appears once your cursor is hovering over the video thumbnail, is nearly as big as the video thumbnail, and takes you to a useless help page instead of the video

Looking at old pagers and cassette players and stuff; Man things used to be so designed for purpose.

Like, there was no "get a message, struggle your phone out, wait for it to wake up, accidentally put it back to sleep, wake it up again, unlock it, open notifications, accidentally clear notifications, look through apps to see which one gave the notification, find it, close it and reopen it because it's frozen, "an error occurred".

Just, "get a notification, look down at your belt, done"

I've dealt with a fair number of broken laptop hinges

In the 90s, laptops were pretty new, so failure points not yet fully known, and hardware was so expensive, the chassis were usually built especially cheaply to try to keep the costs to any sort of reasonable level. So the hinges generally were just screwed to the lid of the machine

Then, in the 2000s, the failure modes were identified, and hardware costs came down, so except on really cheap machines, hinges had frames the length of the lid
