A report card from year 10. It reads in part: English, Grade A, Dana is a very able and talented student who does not always give of her best. This failure to invest much energy in her English prevents her from achieving her full potential although this is not the say that this work is of an inferior standard. Also, Mathematics (Advanced), Grade A, Dana is a keen student but her work lacks discipline. She has a lot of ability but this needs further development.

Did my first student soaring lesson this morning. (On a simulator, cloud ceiling was too low for a real flight.) I think it went really well! As an R/C pilot I need to use my feet now instead of my thumbs to coordinate a turn, but I think I’m getting the feel for it. Did a handful of mediocre landing patterns, but apparently my aero-tow went well. Felt just like chasing other R/C planes while using video (FPV) goggles, which I’ve done a lot of. :)

I miss flying RC. It felt so freeing, especially with a fully manual plane (and also a rather floaty one).

I have a drone, but it's about as exhilarating as playing a game on the Atari 2600.

Yeah. I looked up the latest FAA rules and it needs to be 250g or less to fly without any kind of cert.

That's either a pretty small powered RC or a modest-sized glider.

In don't think the certification is very hard, though, and I think it's free.

Perhaps, but it's a pretty jarring thing to see on an "open source company's" website.

I don't think all telemetry is evil, for sure (I always enable popularity-contest in Debian, and the KDE Plasma opt-in telemetry), but I have some serious distrust when it comes to web telemetry, although I'm sure part of that is my unfamiliarity with the technologies used.

I find KDE quite functional, although I do miss a couple features from OS X, particularly searchable menus, and being able to drag and drop a file into a dialog box and have it just select the file (going to the correct directory automatically).

feels more like iOS to me, which is to say, a toy.

I can't speak to Platinum as a real user, though, as I only personally daily-drove 6.0.4 to 7.0.1 and Leopard to High Sierra.
