First Look: Riven Gameplay Reveal (youtu.be)

As an older, and increasingly jaded gamer, I’m having a hard time remembering when I’ve last been so excited over a release as this one. Riven is seemingly getting the gold-standard treatment with a ground-up remake that not only utilizes 3D (and VR) to give depth to the world but also adds new content while keeping the...

This is cool. But 7th guest remaster when?

Funny to see a Chinese company talking about “constitutional rights”.

Ring customers get $5.6 million in privacy breach settlement (www.bleepingcomputer.com)

The Federal Trade Commission is sending $5.6 million in refunds to Ring users whose private video feeds were accessed without consent by Amazon employees and contractors, or had their accounts and devices hacked because of insufficient security protections.

Cool. I’ll be waiting for my $2.53 check in the mail with bated breath

Legitimate interest? (lemmy.world)

I never consent to give my data away or being tracked, but how do you deal with so called legitimate interest? I tried several times to untick them but it is a long list (in fact at the bottom there is a “vendors” link with even longer, much longer list. It took me 10 minutes to get to the bottom of it once)....

When the government takes your data they will call it legitimate

My guess is Russia and China and other countries aren’t giving a fuck about laws of the USA and the UK

Another hit to physical media as Target lays out plans to ditch in-store DVD and Blu-ray sales (www.whathifi.com)

One of America’s biggest retail chains has announced it will stop selling DVD and Blu-ray discs in-store by 2025. Target, which sells everything from daily groceries to clothes and electronics, has confirmed rumours that it will sell DVDs, Blu-rays and 4K Blu-rays only at specified times of the year as well, as stocking...

So what

Outtatime,
@Outtatime@sh.itjust.works avatar

Of course I did. I just don’t give a shit about target. I can still buy what I need elsewhere.

Outtatime,
@Outtatime@sh.itjust.works avatar

Not really. I scalp the Internet for any deals I can find and also thrift stores etc. I dunno how many times I’ve seen brand new copies of DVDs and blu rays at thrift stores. Not old releases either

Watching something that is useful. Like tutorials on working on cars, PCs etc…

Not all of YouTube is garbage. Some of us like to learn things

It is but you didn’t denounce capitalism so you’re canceled

While people are losing their minds over orange man, they do this stuff in the background. Biden obviously doesn’t care either. People need to realize our government is not on anybody’s side but their own.

Outtatime,
@Outtatime@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yep. In the end though, both parties are complicit

FF7 came out at the perfect time and it really redefined RPGs in the USA. I know it exposed me to this kind of gameplay and genre that I had never experienced before. Unless you count some of the NES RPGs. Those never captivated attention like FF7 did.

Open source e reader (lemmy.ml)

I recently got a Sony prs 600 e reader from 2009. The battery is at the end of its life (It lasts about 3 days with heavy reading, and a couple weeks without reading). No backlight, no Wi-Fi, just an SD card that I can load epub files and small PDFs. The screen is slow and the contrast isn’t the best. The “touch screen” is...

It’s crazy. I’ve noticed the same thing.

I’m surprised you had the courage to mention this in the comments. Most people ignored it. (As evidenced here)

If the OP had a book written by Orange man on their e reader they would be roasted into oblivion

You would if you’re stuck in the middle of the desert with no water and nobody knows where you are

I didn’t say it did. My point was that Google is getting away with it because they rely on ignorance and the lion’s share of browser installs.
