Instagram is very much dead but can we make it official?

The way forward is encouraging people to try better things. The warmth and joy of food is felt through the people that make it. Affordable and accesssible healthy food is becoming a custom, so migration from processed foods is easier.

I like that I can follow people from my niche hobbies list+pros from the field I want to be active in. Averege users are so jaded and will complain for every network error they encounter. Don’t get me wrong, people flock where the action is, they will learn how to do stuff on the fediverse just as they learned fb or other social media. I kinda dread those times, but I refuse to just gatekeep.

I don’t know about news, I wish I could help you with that. I think there might be more news sources on Mastodon as the recent migration from centralized social medias occured, but I’m not sure. It can sound like an echo chamber, I relate to that, but feed curation is what drives your main page.

I’m from eastern europe too, I feel like I almost died from the august 2020 heat, this year I couldn’t belive my eyes seeing 37°C on the weather app last week(and continues to rise). The hail mary was fans for me, but air conditioning is something that will get harder to live without as years roll by and the temperature increases. I know I’m not the intended audience, but what worked for me was spending more time in rooms where the sun doesn’t hit as much(for me it’s the bathroom), standing near walls(I noticed they don’t catch a lot of heat and they are not too cold to lean on), every few hours try to splash some water on your face and neck and maybe(I don’t know if this works, didn’t try it) towels that are wet and were left a bit in the fridge(I’d avise much caution with temperature change to avoid termic shock, for the towel too not be too cold and the body too warm). Hydrate and avoid going outside mid day as much as possible. Summer gets easier when you work in an air conditioned office, but until then, good luck and drink water.

“Brain small so I car big”. But in all seriousness, I don’t see the reason why these people buy these things. If they want a big car, the minimum requirement should be to have a non poluting engine(which is probably far out). What happened to walking, or bikes and rechargeble scooters? Can I ask you about your state’s(or city’s) infrastructure plans or is it simply super car dependant?

This is very well written and thoughrow answer, thank you. The average daily comute distance feels absolutely fucking insane to me, no wonder so many people are car dependant.

many people think transit “brings the wrong kind of people” (aka poor and black people) to their neighborhood and fight it.

I hate the system that is implied that opressed people shoud be hated, not the opressors themselves. People living below the means of wealth are the result of a failing system, one that doesn’t cater to the well being of many, but to those of a few. I’ve seen beggars on highways with toddlers(not on the sides on the highway that’s reserved for ambulances and such, but sitting against the wall that divides the ways) and I’d rather see them on public transport than there. I’m happy for the BRT line, that’s incredible. I’m also happy for the people that get to experience public transport in these following years. Sure, at peak hours it may seem crowded, but getting fast where you need to be is amazing. I grew up using public transportation and can’t imagine my life without it (as the city was designed to not be insanely large, and driving takes longer than using public transit). I mean, didn’t people used to say in the 1800’s that public roads are socialism and socialism bad ? It’s like the bird who eats a biscuit and experiences bliss for the first time, public transit can be bliss.(and it’s not like people here don’t have cars, it’s just that it’s more convinient and fast to ride the subway for example, and leave cars for longer distance roads, like holiday trips. Using cars only when absolutely needed was ironically driven by lack of parking, existence of potholes, and infernal traffic). You have the freedom to own a car, it’s just that the expenses can render you dry if you don’t absolutely need it and have alternitives. I’m rooting for you, I learned a lot reading your comment, thank you so much.

Why is Linux so frustrating for some people?

Don’t get me wrong. I love Linux and FOSS. I have been using and installing distros on my own since I was 12. Now that I’m working in tech-related positions, after the Reddit migration happened, etc. I recovered my interest in all the Linux environment. I use Ubuntu as my main operating system in my Desktop, but I always end...

People get used to things they understand so they don’t want to learn. Frustration builds as you get older, so I am glad I started a long time ago, and I have a lot of respect for people who are willing to learn constantly and are patient. I learn(ed) from trial and error, I like poking the bear and being able to see what works/doesn’t and why. The responses I got regarding lack of linux usage is that people don’t like spending time troubleshooting, or they get super jaded and just want something that works then and there, just so they don’t think too much about it. But now the irony is that windows will piss them off so much they will have no choice but to learn the distro they choose. It’s like vim, at first it seems strange, but once you learn it you will never look back. Learning is done as long as there is curiosity and need involved.

I’ve seen people lose their shit over having to “sign up for another app” and honestly I don’t want people who have no respect for their data, privacy and have the personality of a wet cardboard right-wing conservative on the fediverse. That’s why Fb exists. We are here as users because we chose to, as other people chose what best suits them.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a beautiful cable management photo as the one on the right. Can’t belive I’m having romantic feelings about cable management.

People literally don’t care about their privacy. Anything that is raised regarding tracking is classified as being paranoid and you become a weirdo.

Tips on staying awake for longer periods of time&proper rest?

*Disclamer: I haven’t slept in over a day and idk if what I write makes any sense, I will adjust it after I wake up.*Sometimes I do dumb stuff and end up not sleeping, other times there simply isn’t time to sleep/rest as needed(assignments and lack of planning ahead). Any advice on how to stay awake for longer periods of...

First of all, I was having a nice day until I read this. But alas, here’s my two cents. Since you said you will be travelling, not eating will be a problem. Why? As other comments pointed out and as I went through this myself a few weeks ago(not intentionally, just financially dependent on irresponsible traumatised individuals who get to decide when/what/why I eat- I am working on it, don’t worry), not eating for extended amounts of time gets you weird cramps and liquid poop. You don’t want that, especially when you need to move. I don’t know the environment you will be in, but aim to eat a bit those days, processed solid foods will do. Cheese, eggs, bread(bagels),plain pasta(ALREADY BOILED) if available. Avoid sugar in fairly large quantities(dehydrating), coffee(obvs), fruits, even vegetables. Your body will hate you for this, so when it’s over please take it easy and eat&drink water properly. It’s good that you will be moving, hopefully not too intense activity(because you’d need to eat/drink water properly) as that will distract your brain from wanting to eat/drink water.(again, sauce: former retail worker, wasn’t done intentionally, I can’t stress this enough. It just sorta happens). Make sure that you at least sleep and rest properly, and as others have pointed out, this isn’t sustainable and not recommended by any means. Long term lack of nutrition fucks you up in ways I can’t even begin to describe, take that shit from me. In the offchance you tattoo your asshole(and that you are one who has that tentacle tattooed on the asshole and are having it re done/touched up), you can simply wash after you poop, you don’t have to go through this. Also you can try anti diuretic and anti liquid poop(for a lack of a better term) medicine. Looking foward for an update, hope you’ll be ok.
