Protoknuckles,

Is that not representative of the “I got mine, fuck you” conservative movement?

Protoknuckles,

If I didn’t own half of these already, it would be a no brainer!

Protoknuckles,

Funny enough, the 3 I can talk about are the same as Tiberius.

My thoughts:

Dicey Dungeon: the dice adds a nice little wrinkle of randomness, the premise is fun and there’s a nice little comedy to it.

Luck be a Landlord: I like this one as there aren’t too many slot machine mechanic games. That alone makes it worth checking out.

Fights in Tight Spaces: my favorite of the 3. You are a spy fighting goons on a grid. The addition of spacing makes this very interesting, as it’s almost another resource to consider in card choice. Very fun game.

Protoknuckles,

This is so bizarrely weird, but I am here for it

Metamucil (psyillium fibre)

It’s kinda simple, but Metamucil. I would get terrible stomach aches, bloating and constipation whenever I had greasy food. Now, if I have 1-2 servings of Metamucil a day, then 1 extra right as I eat greasy food, I don’t feel terrible!

Protoknuckles,

I’m glad to hear it! If you are lacking fiber, it can drastically improve your life.

If you had a one-way ticket to Jan 1, 1999 that departs on Jan 1, 2024, and you are allowed to bring whatever fits into a backpack with you, what would you bring to use to take over the world, and how would you use it?

Assume that the future can change based on your actions, so any historical information that you bring along with you from the intervening 25 years may quickly drift out of the new realities history....

Protoknuckles,

If you got a camping backpack maybe you could bring them! That’s my plan.

Protoknuckles,

Frasier was on my backlog of stuff to watch. It’s nice when my backlog clears itself like this.

Protoknuckles,

One doesn’t have to, if one doesn’t want to. I don’t listen much to Michael Jackson (though I have a soft spot for Thriller), but I’m also not 100% sold on the allegations made against him.

Protoknuckles,

Wait, what was that about Person of Interest?

Protoknuckles,

Jesus! This is Steven Segal or Kevin Sorbp level crazy.

Protoknuckles,

I draw the line at the artist’s life. I think there’s a world of difference between appreciating a Van Gogh, and buying a book by J. K. Rowling. Van Gogh terrorized a woman and sent her his ear, but he’s dead, so any “support” I give him doesn’t help him. Whereas J. K. Rowling and Kelsey Grammer are alive and supported by their art. And I refuse to be part of that support.

Protoknuckles,

Sure, if I was that motivated. Though there is the question of how much his world view is expressed in his work, and how much I want to expose myself to it. But at the end of the day, I’ve gone, what, 30 years without watching Frasier? I don’t need to see it. There are plenty of other TV shows I can watch.

Protoknuckles,

Toxic ideologies have a way of coloring your thinking. When I listen to far right nut jobs, racists, sexists and other lunatics I feel stressed and anxious. So, why should I listen to them?

I’m all for discourse and discussion when there are two legitimate competing viewpoints, but not when one of the two viewpoints espouses hate and vitriol. I’m too old to waste my time on that.

Also, if you don’t know what Frasier is, why are you invested in convincing me to watch it? Or were you trying to make fun of my spelling while using “u” and “ur”?

Protoknuckles,

It’s hard to tell what everything is in black and white. What is all this?

Protoknuckles,

Thank you!

Protoknuckles,

I used Chiaki to play Yakuza 0 on my PS4 the first few months I had my Deck. Worked really well!

Protoknuckles,

I’m reading Hard Reset by Django Wexler on Audible. It’s a small little guilty pleasure sci-fi about a pilot and an archeologist repairing a warbot on a post-apocalyptic earth. The performance is very good. After I’m done with that I’m gonna read Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris. I always like to theme a book around the holidays.

On Kindle, I’m reading How To by Randal Monroe. I’m not sure about it currently, I’m bouncing off some of the humor, even though I love XKCD. I’m also reading Dragons of Crumbling castle to my son who is 3 months old. I’m almost done, so after that, maybe the Hobbit? My wife is reading him Roald Dahl’s The Witches. When I’m done with How To, I’m moving onto Carpe Jugulum in my second reading through of Discworld.

Then, on MoonReader I’ve got a PDF of Dan Abnett’s Legion from an old Humble Bundle. I don’t know about it, I think he put in too much jargon. Usually I love his writing, ever since I read his run on Guardians of the Galaxy, and I’m a Chaos Space Marine fan. Hell, I also love conmen and tricksters, so the Alpha Legion book for the Horus Heresy should be right up my alley, but I’m getting lost in the weeds with it. When I’m done with this one, I’ll move onto the next book in the Horus Heresy novels. I should have it since I alway get the Warhammer Humble Bundles.

Protoknuckles,

No, but I’ll look into them!

Protoknuckles,

I’m a suckered for library building, and digital helps keep my footprint down, though I do love the feel of a book

Protoknuckles,

I mean, Dresden would have to stick to paper books anyway, so that works.

[DISCUSSION] What director(s) do you think have the best filmography?

I was checking out the new season of Fargo, which made me want to rewatch the 1996 movie and I got to thinking, the Coen Brothers have a fantastic filmography. They have way more hits than misses and they make some of the most interesting movies out there. No Country for Old Men is probably one of my favorites of all time. So...

Protoknuckles,

I’ll have to go with Edgar Wright for the Corneto trilogy and Scott Pilgrim. Those movies are so dense and well thought out.

Protoknuckles,

I still have to see Baby Driver. For my money, Hot Fuzz was the best of the trilogy. That movie (and Scott Pilgrim) are so densely packed with cleverness, they demand to be rewatched intensely.

Protoknuckles,

He’s one of the best sci-fi autors around. I’ve re-read old man’s war a few times.
