Christian nationalism is the belief that America should be defined by Christianity, and that the government should take active steps to keep it that way....
I really appreciate this! If there is one thing that scares me most about the trajectory of this country, it is christian nationalism. Glad to see local religious leaders denouncing it.
I’m really impressed with the proposed station locations. With the exception of the airport & (possibly) oscar meyer options, they all seem to be in great locations! Wishing the best for Madison!
Wow! Thats awesome! In 2017 there were only 4 new businesses. In 2022, there were 25.
While low numbers such as these can skew percentage statistics, it really sounds like South Milwaukee is on the right track with lots of action made specifically to attract business. Excited to see what 2023 and beyond brings!
I feel super conflicted about it, but would hold my nose while voting yes. I think @steinbring really hit the nail on the head regarding how the state legislature’s hand in all this.
I don’t have a picture right now, but gosh the new skyscraper in the Historic Third Ward is really going up quickly. Every time I’m over there, I swear it has added another floor or two. Any bets on whether it will be finished before the Couture is?
They just started the curtain wall last week! Always the most exciting aspect of a project!
Now that they are above the parking garage level, I suspect that floors will be assembled quicker than before. It looks like both towers are neck & neck in terms of topping out. I’m betting that the Courture will reach its final height first, but wouldn’t be surprised if 333 water opens to tenants first even if the Courture beats it with reaching its final height.
This is great! I lived in chicago briefly & had a micro-park like these right next door. Used to spend so much time there, it was my favorite place in the neighborhood.
I love to see Milwaukee embracing the micro park concept & really appreciate the way that they are handling programming in these spaces.
I hope they are able to secure funding! The proposed extensions make a lot of sense & will make the system far more useful. Particularly looking forward to the Brady street extension.
It really is crazy! Visibility is super low, lots of people with masks, and a high uv index on top of it lol. Hopefully it will dissipate soon.
Whats crazier are the restaurants who still think today is a good day to open all their windows lol. Walked past one downtown today & felt so bad for the workers.
I use the Milwaukee subreddit’s yearly community created ‘best of’ for new food recommendations (I eat out 4-6 times per week, it’s a problem) I think it’s a great source of information, and I’m wondering if it’s something we should have on @Milwaukee. As a follow-up the subreddit had lots of great resources, so is...
Your city likely has a “comprehensive plan”–a long document detailing hopeful initiatives and goals for your local community. These documents are crafted by a very small number of people, which means if there’s something you want in there that isn’t, you have the power to change that, and then take real action to make...
This! Engaging in local government is the best way to change your city for the better. Milwaukee for example is getting ready to release their 2040 plan, which includes some incredible initiatives that were brought on by public input.
To add to this, a lot of other organizations have comprehensive plans that the public can get involved with as well. WisDOT’s 2050 rail plan comes to mind & has a huge impact on the Fox Valley
Sales tax approval was already a given (IMO), but I am quite happy to see my elected officials look at fighting the bullshit. About half the article is dedicated to how that will be done.
Very good point :) What they presented for national ave absolutely blew me away! Such an amazing walkable design. Hopefully even if they keep 794, they make similar improvements to walkability
