It highlights a lot of really upseting content that is pushing LGBT people away from this instance and makes people feel uncomfortable or unsafe in a safe space. Reminder a persons right to exist peacefully shouldn't be up for debate and they shouldn't be treated...
Sometimes a visual is nice just to help hammer home just how bad things have gotten in parts of the United States. We've got a lot of fighting left to do for trans rights.
Odd that a organization aimed at moving people at risk of legal or other physical safety risks would organize or work over unnecrypred discord. You'd think a serious organization would use Element/matrix or signal to communicate securly, very alarming.
The admin of sh.itjust.works has been approached but as of yet has failed to reply to concerned Lemmy users. I’m glad Beehaw admins look out for us by cutting off instances that host communities like this.
You're right. They really don't. Censorship is done at the gov level, yet private companies or organizationns, that they defend, ban them and suddenly it's censorship. :/

And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, "you didn't see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them." And i was like, ohok and he continues "you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it's always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don't want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too. And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it's too late because they're entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down" And i was like, 'oh damn.' and he said "yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people."

I've had the understanding a lot of these laws were meant to impact the poor and working class for a long time. Rare to see someone Aldo know that too.
It only really encourages it to show no punishment for clearly abusive actions though. It says in the rules of the community that stuff like that is clearly not tolerated

What you say is valid and I agree you and others shouldn't have to continues being fighting for your right to peacefully live your life even inside of "safe space" particularly just makes this extra awful. Them allowing that content to stand up violates the whole spirit of a " safe space", they claim to be aiming for.
This is tiring for those whom are being attacked by that stuff in covert manner. Think about it from the minority persons perspective, day in day out they see abusive content, in media, their home and in discussion forums. It doesn't help to be forced to see this in a safe space either. The stuff i link in this post isn't good for the mental health and wellbeing of people.
That is very disingenuous and rather hyperbolic to say this. A person talking about their lived experiences and having someone dismiss them in a safe space only for admin to act like removing traumatising content is somehow "what we disagree with"?
I don't recall anybody asking for "every" post be deleted, just abusive or traumatizing ones about or towards marginalized people. It's reasonable to not retraumatise whom are regularly treated poorly by so much of society. please stop using hyperbolic and disingenuous arguments. I ask you to please read the linked posts and understand the person whom was attacked side.
To solve this problem of seeing "deleted by mod" all over, a reason can be posted by the mod as a comment explaining why if needed.
