Same deal here in the States. As part of the Migratory Bird Act, seagulls as well as almost every other bird save for pigeons and starlings, are protected. Killing one can land you in prison or up to 15,000 in fines.
We also have to worry about Volcanos, mainly Mount Rainier. That fucker is likely going to wipe out Orting, Puyallup and Eastern Tacoma/Fife. I5 is going to be impacted in a few spots. The entire region will be reeling from that explosion for weeks, if not months.
Keiino coming back for round three with Damdiggida is a thing. I love the song but I still don’t know how it will fit with the rest of the entries. We will know more once the National Selections are decided.
like, it’s still dark at 5pm, there are barely any sports on, still bitterly cold and austere and it hurts to go outside, but you’re not even looking forward to christmas or the new year. the new year is here, and it’s largely the same as last year. except you’re getting older.
I leave our lights up through Mardi Gras. We live in Seattle so darkness is our friend until March. Leaving them up through the long dark makes a 5a start seem less irritating and I feel like it brightens up the neighborhood a bit. We have also put up some year round, inoffensive, hipster lights that are either party/relax, depending on your mood.
I love bridges. If I see a cool looking bridge, I want to cross it, especially if it goes somewhere that I’m not familiar with. Same with stairs outdoors. They feel like an adventure to me.
Went to Iceland in November. First stop was Geysir, located near Gulfoss. After waiting for twenty or thirty we learned it rarely goes off anymore and the new one is an additional hike. I’m still bummed I didn’t get to see it go off.
I rocked a Samsung Alias 2 for 4 years before I got an iPhone 5. The e-ink keyboard was awesome how it changed when you flipped the screen open to portrait or landscape.
like all the fuckin ads with the hugging families around winter. any educationally normal adult knows everyone just gets more stressed, with travel and gifts and social obligations and everything, but you’re not even allowed to…openly feel that, it seems? it’s like there’s this happiness benchmark you have to reach,...
This year I started Holiday shopping about 6 months ago. I am 99% done, just have to wrap them. Cut way down on my stress levels. 10/10 would recommend.
Don’t let others dictate how you feel around the Holidays. Need some days off for you? Take em. Don’t want to drive/fly across the country? Don’t. There will be a next year. Focus on the now and how you feel.
Some lady crashed into me and drove away. I saw her a few days later and she did it again but I got her liscense plate. I called the cops and they said, “we can’t do anything because they could say their friend did it.” so now I am giving her payback.

The transition from the holiday season back to the normal drudgery is so depressing. Is there any way to make Jan / Feb less depressing?

I hate how the holidays create all this extra responsibility and stress out of nowhere and then the media / culture also act like you're meant to be having such fun the whole time
