Cold Take, but Squid Game is a really good example of why diversity can improve media (and, sigh, business)

There's nothing magic about being South Korean that makes you a good TV show maker.

But, you definitely wouldn't quite get Squid Game from someone without those life experiences. Might have still been a good show! But it wouldn't be Squid Game.
