Sodium_nitride,

car factories really aren’t that different from APC/tank factories.

What is this bs?

Sodium_nitride,

To summarise, it is a combination of many related factors

  1. Overly sedately lifestyle. In America, you are forced to use your car everywhere. Even in other countries, sports and gyms aren’t usually cheap, and you also need the spare time to engage
  2. Diets contain too much sugar, other people have given resources for this
  3. Stress is linked to overeating (and other disorders).
  4. There is an overabundance of snacks and drinks. A better regulated society would probably cut down on the production of these unhealthy items.
Sodium_nitride,

I am really worried that the Chinese leadership might buy into this nonsense and try to reduce the savings rate. That is the exact opposite of what China needs. As the productive forces develop, developing them further takes even more effort as you have to take on even more challenging projects while also maintaining the productive forces already developed. It is precisely because the liberal economies stopped accumulating that they have degenerated.

Or buy cheap Chinese solar panels and batteries

Only Cable News Viewers Think Israel isn't Committing a Genocide, Survey Finds (theintercept.com)

Americans who get their news primarily from cable are the only people who believe that Israel is not committing a genocide in Gaza, according to a new survey that examined the relationship between attitudes toward the war and news consumption habits....

Sodium_nitride,

Only social media users said they’d be more likely to support a candidate who supported Palestinians (33-19 percent). Just 15 percent of cable news viewers said the same, even though 31 percent of cable viewers agreed that Israel was committing genocide against Palestinians.

Does this mean what I think it means? That roughly half of the cable news watchers who believe that Israel is commiting genocide literally do not care?

Sodium_nitride,

In your scenario, if some of the people who think there is no genocide still supported a pro Palestinians candidate (likely that there are at least some), then the number of people who believe there is a genocide, but still wouldn’t support a pro Palestinians candidate would be even higher. My scenario is actually the most optimistic one.

Biden is toast with people under 45 isn't he?

The 45+ crowd will vote for him because they support isn’treal and are afraid of Drumpf but I think we’re going to see a massive drop out of young voters. Probably too with the people who already don’t vote to begin with, namely service workers who are fucked over either way with D’s and R’s....

Sodium_nitride,

The Democrats had many legal mechanisms to take care of this issue. They could have codified it. They could have threatened the court. They could have even distributed abortion drugs by mail (which the states aren’t allowed to check iirc)for free, which would have significantly weakened any bans.

Sodium_nitride,

Has anyone developed any counter measures to these types of weapons?

Sodium_nitride,

Spook is from the german “spuking” which means haunting. Its use in this context comes from the german philosopher Max Stirner who is infamous for the memes where X is declared to be a spook.

Understanding what exactly spooks are is somewhat challenging, and plenty of people get the wrong ubderstanding about what is meany by spooks. But at least in the meme way of using the word, a spook is anything you think is a fairy tale, or nonsense that you don’t care about.

Amnesty: World seeing near breakdown of international law amid wars in Gaza and Ukraine (apnews.com)

The world is seeing a near breakdown of international law amid flagrant rule-breaking in Gaza and Ukraine, multiplying armed conflicts, the rise of authoritarianism and huge rights violations in Sudan, Ethiopia and Myanmar, Amnesty International warned Wednesday as it published its annual report....

Sodium_nitride,

The rule of law is always synonymous with the rule of force. A law which isn’t implemented by force is just a suggestion. The international rules based order could by definition, never have been anything more than the rule of the hegemon.

Sodium_nitride,

Back in the House of Lords later on Monday evening, peers decided to drop the demand on Afghan veterans [getting an excemption]

This is what you get for serving the empire. It will chew you up and spit you out.

Sodium_nitride,

What about the UN’s non political work? It does plenty of work regarding health, education, poverty and so on.

Sodium_nitride,

No Biden. Dude refuses to tighten the leash on Israel.

Sodium_nitride,

People like this are the reason why we need systematic changes and cannot simply rely on individuals changing their lifestyles.

Sodium_nitride,

The extreme weather events are now tag teaming to kick our ass. Great.

Saying what can't be said: Israel has been defeated – a total defeat (www.haaretz.com)

We’ve lost. Truth must be told. The inability to admit it encapsulates everything you need to know about Israel’s individual and mass psychology. There’s a clear, sharp, predictable reality that we should begin to fathom, to process, to understand and to draw conclusions from for the future. It’s no fun to admit that...

Sodium_nitride,

Usually, defeat in an invasion doesn’t instantly cause nations to fall

Sodium_nitride,

The US’s role in suppressing food security around the world is well known. It doesn’t matter how much they donate to food programs, which BTW themselves have a destabilising effect on food prices ans contribute to the problem when you violate the food sovereignty of like half the world.

I haven’t looked into this in detail either, but I am guessing that the food program being talked about buys much of its food from US corporations. It wouldn’t surprise me, especially since the US is such a major food exporter.

Sodium_nitride,

(Consider Russia as an example of a country that the USA had no particular hostility towards, despite the Cold War, but now actively opposes due to its ambitions.)

Is this a bit?

Sodium_nitride,

Guys. You are missing the obvious answer here. More than half of the world’s industrial robots are installed in China. Furthermore, they have been developing their internal supply chain for decades on end. Their economies of scale are very strong.

I swear, the orientalism is very strong on this post. It cannot be that a country is yielding the fruits of decades of hard work building up their industry. It has to be slave labor …

US says Israel has not violated international law during Gaza war (www.aljazeera.com)

After Israel killed seven aid workers in Gaza, the US says it has not found any incidents of Israel violating international humanitarian law in the past six months. An Al Jazeera probe concluded the World Central Kitchen vehicles were deliberately hit.

Sodium_nitride,

Presumably, they want to drag USA into a broader regional war.

Sodium_nitride,

Right now Russia is tied up in Ukraine. For Israel, this is the perfect opportunity to get rid of Iran. Once the war in Ukraine ends, Israel will be in deep shit because Russia can provide support to Iran and other regional Israeli enemies. Furthermore, the Israeli economy has also been severely damaged by the emmigration that was triggered by the war. Their reputation as a Jewish safe haven is toast. Time is running out.
