You can tell YouTube's management is great when you find out they added music recognition to voice search in the YouTube app, but not the YouTube Music app.
I just remembered a very specific nightmare I had last night. In it Nvidia announced that they were dropping support for 10 series cards with their new 545.xx driver version, the one with considerable Wayland improvements. Me and my GTX 1060 were really spooked.
@odoben I had to drop nvidia drivers because they don't go well with secure boot. My dedicated gpu in the laptop is shit anyway and is barely used for anything.
For so many years, YouTube still can't fix their UX fail which forces you to open the subtitles menu twice to use Auto-translate if you change the subtitle track.
I learned this a few years ago and shown it to a few friends just now, they never realized this. When the option is missing it really looks like it's just not available on this video for some reason.
They should either not close the menu or put auto-translate into the main menu next to the subtitles.
What's a good sans-serif font that's easy to read for a while?
Looking at replacing Noto Sans as the body-font on my blog and website. Using Inconsolata presently as the header font but may pivot to a different mono font.
Also uh, might have a wild hair to write my own CSS framework for my blog to replace Bulma. Either that or rebuild the layout more-cleanly, but I feel like most frameworks are kinda built around their concept of a layout, which is not the same layout I wanna use.
@KayOhtie personal opinion: leave noto sans or swap for roboto if you really want, I find these to be perfectly legible and not attention-grabbing while also being concise.
attempting to recover a snapchat account i havent used since 2017 which has sms 2fa enabled for a phone number i havent had since 2019 and i never saved the recovery codes

web dev hot take: you are only allowed to shit on client side web apps when server side logic becomes free. 0 dollars 00 cents per any (reasonable) number of requests (that can still withstand a "hug of death"). no strings attached. no credit cards or surprise bills or startup times.
if this is impossible, client side web apps are here to stay. unless you're willing to personally pay for the hosting of each and every app you think should've been server side forever.
@kopper Hmm, in my experience people usually prefer apps with client side logic since there is more control and trust in them.
I don't like apps with unnecessary server side logic as it creates dependency and you can't verify what the app developer does with the data on their backend.
