Streetlights, (edited )

Oh and those pensions you might have heard of? That’s just an old wives’ tale, no such thing for you.

Streetlights, (edited )

That we’re reading this educational policy change in the newspapers and not from a professional teaching group tells you that this is simply a political manoeuvre.

These kids are already watching porn on their phones, you aren’t protecting them from anything by refusing to teach.

Streetlights,

I assume op is referring to the recent Cass review

cass.independent-review.uk/home/…/final-report/

Streetlights,

Yes I’m also not entirely sure what op meant, I assume they will be along shortly to update us.

Streetlights,

There are roughly 1.3m births per year in Russia, assume 50% boys then that’s about 1780 per day. If this keeps up Russia will wipe out an entire generation.

Streetlights,

It’s certainly opinionated, polemical even. I would encourage you to read it in its entirety and follow some of many links they’ve included to make their case. I myself have subjectively noticed the same changes in science journalism over the last decade that the authors are highlighting, particularly in SciAm.

Galloway's Workers Party to stand candidates everywhere in challenge to Labour (morningstaronline.co.uk)

“Unveiling the largest left-of-Labour electoral challenge in history, Mr Galloway, who returned to the Commons in the Rochdale by-election in February, said the party was speaking to three Labour MPs about their possible defection.”...

Streetlights,

He’s a tankie and tankies seem to think they are on the political left.

Streetlights,

This was promised back in 2010

theguardian.com/…/mixed-sex-hospital-ward-fines

Governments have been struggling for 15 years to end the sharing of wards by men and women. Lansley said in August that it would end in all but accident and emergency and intensive care units by the end of this year.

The only reason mixed wards happen is because demand has grown but funding has not. The NHS is being crippled on multiple fronts by chronic lack of resources.

Humza Yousaf quits as first minister of Scotland: what happens now? (www.theguardian.com)

Humza Yousaf has announced that he is stepping down as Scotland’s first minister, just over a year after he was elected. He had been battling for his political survival and was facing a vote of no-confidence after unilaterally terminating the powersharing deal between the Scottish National party and Scottish Greens last week....

Streetlights,

What happens next

Something potentially really funny since Labour’s VONC is still on the table.

Streetlights,

No chance. The greens are in the driving seat here, and they’ve made it very clear what kind of person their support depends on.

Streetlights,

Technically speaking, the VONC is still on the table since he’s remaining in post until a successor is appointed. It’s going to be a long week in Holyrood.

Streetlights,

It’ll end up being Swinney. Part of the inner clique and the greens will accept him.

Streetlights,

Drinking like Humza tonight. Grass needs doing, just needs to stop snowing for a few days.

Streetlights,

I’ve literally bought him a pint. Same year.

Streetlights,

VONC in Humza now. The greens are fuming, and I’m not sure every SNP msp will back him either.

For example, Fergus Ewing got suspended for voting no confidence in the green minister, and now the green minister has been sacked…

Streetlights,

Assuming every msp votes (except the presiding officer), it’s 63 SNP msps vs. 65 opposition. You can count on lab, libdem and torys voting against him, if the greens also vote that way then he’s toast.

Streetlights,

Polling suggests that the greens could attract disaffected snp voters, they might be in line to get more seats if an election is held soonish.

Nothing for them to lose anymore.

Streetlights,

Fergus Ewing for example.

Streetlights,

Looks like Douglas Ross won the race to table a VONC.

Streetlights,

Greens have confirmed they will vote against Humza. Ash Regan is now in a very powerful position.

Streetlights,

Any msp can put forward a motion of no confidence. If if gets the support of at least 25 msps then it will be scheduled for a debate in the parliament followed by a vote.

Streetlights,

Anyone losing a vonc is expected to resign, which in this case should result in a full Holyrood election.
