Wow, the fix for NVDA freezing when an app goes not responding is working really well. I'm running an operation on my ProBook that previously caused NVDA to completely freeze, and now it recovers after about a second and I can continue working while the task completes.

@joyctilton Yup, it indeed is. How I have no idea, but here we are. Twitter even suspended the API key for Mac, even though it wasn't used anymore, so beyond me how it still exists.

@simon Why hello, Eloquence's broken date parser. Interestingly enough, IBMTTS doesn't do this, just ECI.

@x0 @simon It did used to do it, the IBMTTS driver worked around it with a really ugly hack. However, that really ugly hack broke IBMTTS compatibility, and I'd rather have that than work around Eloquence's broken date parser.

The temptation to work on a faster (albeit less functional) screen reader alternative for MacOS is immense. I even have a cool name for it. But this is a very bad idea. I really don't need yet another project to work on, plus it would create more fragmentation. But I also really want to like MacOS. Hmm

@jcsteh Good luck making it run on secure screens. I tried very, very hard. VoiceOver has so much knowledge that we just never will that it's not feasible.

@jcsteh I have no idea, but the VoiceOver on those screens can't even read your preferences, so I assume it's very, very sandboxed.
