I drive an EV. I do not suggest that others drive an EV. It's the car for me, it might not be the car for you. Despite this, I have a friend that constantly engages in discussion with me on why I won't be able to convince her to get an EV.
I have never tried to convince anyone to get one! I'm not sure why she does this.
She does this concerning religious discussions too!
I'm not religious. Whether someone else is religious is their business. I don't care beyond what ever they try to compell me to do becuase of it. Same friend both tells me I won't convince her to become non religious while trying to convert me.
I grew up in a Christian Family! I had the owner of Chick Fil-A as a Sunday school teacher. I am familiar with Christianity, but not convinced. I'm not trying to deconvince anyone else.
When I want to communicate that someone is an arsehole I say something like "There is a certain charm about that person that not everyone can appreciate."
My friends know what I am really saying. If I get overheard, it sounds like something positive.
Just fell victim to a fraudulent advertisement. At least I was skeptical enough from the start to not actually lose any money or personal info, though.
Reporting it to the FTC made me feel a little better.
"We know Wed-Fri is our Thanksgiving Holiday period, but some of our clients have to work Wed and Friday. As a show of #solidarity, if you are managing one of those clients, you can't participate in taking Wed and Fri off."
Speaking of which, I went to my post vacation status meeting where they wanted updated status on my project. I cut straight to the point. “Nothing was done since I went on vacation.” It’s a shame I had to even tell them that.
A developer worked on a project for three months. They decided to do the deployment 2 days after he started his vacation. With him being out of town, they added me to the project. They also want me to make changes today (deployment day).
These are not conditions on which the highest quality of work is produced.
On that topic, some of the interfaces/software services that they have to use for some portions of the project are absolute crap.
That said, I want two things.
Any project that has only 1 dev needs a backup to atleast become casually familiar with the project. If that can't be done, there shall be documentation left behind.
release days and vacations of vital people shall not overlap.
Some safety lights of mine have a setting where they blink out SOS in Morse. When I show it to my friends, they have no idea of the significance of why the lights are blinking in different ways.
TX and FL passed laws that essentially bypass §230(c)(2)(A) and create liability for moderating. Both laws were enjoined for violating Amendments One and Fourteen. In Appeal, 11th circuit agreed with the FL law being unconstitutional while 5th circuit thought the TX law was fine. SCOTUS has to resolve the circuit split.
I got spared from being laid off for reasons I still consider odd. Here's the back story.
At my employer, I had been part of a group that pursued its own clients and maintained profitability even when other parts of the company had challenges. My coworkers and I kept utilization levels between 90 and 110 percent. If you are utilized, you are making money. This all got disturbed by an internal merger...
