TommySoda,

I can’t wait for the article saying how we’re gonna solve world hunger with AI.

TommySoda,

Can never go wrong with summoningsalt. He’ll get you invested in things you never knew you had any interest in. If you want a good example of that check out his video on Wii Sports speed runs. If that sounds like something you aren’t interested in, give it 10 minutes and you’ll be in so deep you’ll start thinking about getting into speed running yourself.

TommySoda, (edited )

I get that. But at the same time speed running is stale as a concept. I feel like it’s just the nature of the genre since there’s only so much you can talk about. I love speed running but I could never watch someone stream it for hours on end.

Edit: This was meant as a response to another comment but I goofed. I do love this video. Oops lol

TommySoda,

I’m down lol. I need to remember to do that shit all the time too.

TommySoda,

I’ve been there before my dude. But I still wanna do it for the folks that need it.

TommySoda,

Honestly, I can’t even remember the last time I bought an EA game. What do they even make these days besides sports games?

TommySoda,

Brings me back to when EA was buying up companies just to milk them until there’s nothing left to give and then close the studios. It’s okay though. It’s not like these companies had employees with bills to pay, livelihoods, families, bills again, etc. it’s not like there are actually people behind the games we play that are struggling just as much as we are. That would be madness!

You shouldn't be able to join a competitive pvp match or start a raid without a working microphone

In games like Destiny or CS:GO for example, you should not even be allowed to start the activity without a working microphone. I dont care if you are antisocial, if that’s the case, those activaties aren’t for you and you shouldn’t bring down your entire team because of that....

TommySoda,

In a perfect world, I completely agree with you. Unfortunately the majority of the online competitive games I have played voice chat consists of one dude giving helpful call outs while everyone else bitches and complains about why that dude sucks and their call outs suck. And even if it goes well it usually crumbles into a blame game by the halfway point. The only way I have ever been able to successfully grind a competitive game without losing my fucking mind is to just have friends to play with as we hang out in our own chat and mute the other teammates.

I truly understand where you are coming from. And that’s exactly why I don’t play competitive anymore.

TommySoda,

If only there was some kind of agreed set of conventional rules that could stop this kinda thing… Well since no one is gonna stop them they have no reason to stop. Who knows what else they can get away with? The sky is the limit when it comes to war crimes these days.

TommySoda,

You know the reason they wanna do this is make it hands off so they can ignore it. And it will work until the AI starts confidently giving people false advice and misinformation about what they need help with. If a human makes a mistake they can correct it. In a lot of cases with AI if it makes a mistake it will just double down. And if you have no human element to fact check it will just spiral downward while you ignore it. I just hope the AI starts telling people to cancel their services as the most effective way to solve their problems and they don’t even notice.

TommySoda,

The fact that they call their employees “Googlers” is very strange and kinda makes me feel a little uncomfy.

TommySoda,

Reminds me of those super creepy Walmart chants they did (still do?) at the beginning of the shift.

TommySoda,

Fortnite didn’t become a mega popular cash factory for Epic Games because of micro transactions. It became a mega popular cash factory for Epic Games because, regardless of your opinion of the game, they made a game that people actually want to play beneath the micro transactions. These companies make hollow games riddled with egregious micro transactions because they took the wrong lesson from the games that made it huge. Big games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch, and Valorant are pretty decent games that have micro transactions while so many games coming out are just micro transactions with a game attached to it. You can’t get away with exploiting people’s impulsivity if you don’t put in the effort to tie the carrot to the end of the stick. You’re just slapping a stick to people’s heads expecting them to chase it. It’s why, even though I will never give Blizzard another dollar for as long as I live, I still play Overwatch with the boys when the mood strikes.

TommySoda,

I mean that’s a big oof for these guys. But it seems the people behind it weren’t entirely malicious as they were only interested in the game and not personal information. Hopefully this doesn’t have a huge detriment to the studio or the game. These developers have been doing a great job and I feel like they deserve our support regardless.

TommySoda,

As a person that didn’t really enjoy the borderlands games, I had no idea this was happening and this is easily the oddest thing if read all week. Before I read the article I was confused but interested. Now I’m informed, confused, and interested. But hey, I’m glad they were able to do this with a game. I’m an average science enjoyer so I’m always glad to see good news.

TommySoda,

While I agree over-breeding of pets is a very messed up practice, they already exist in the here and now. Might as well be their friends and tell them they are cute since they are here.

TommySoda,

Besides novelty, the majority of AI I have used has just added extra steps to my work process instead of making it easier. Can we just stop already? It’s not a tool for literally everything and I’m tired of companies thinking it is.

TommySoda,

Look, I’m not a furry and the whole idea of it confuses me to no end. But at the same time can’t people just let other people enjoy what they like? Just let people be themselves for goodness sake.

TommySoda,

Honestly I wouldn’t even say the bots are that much harder, just harder to learn. The bugs are pretty straightforward comparatively I think.

TommySoda,

You may have ruined me forever with that comment.
