Do you have any ideas, Tony?

You were a big help last year

@si_irini Thank you. I got a little bit overwhelmed with replies so it took me a minute to get back but I’m going to think on it as I wind down for bed. I will write you in the morning, my time.

I’ve said this before but apparently it hasn’t sunk in but if you say “Biden has lost my vote”, don’t expect anyone to listen to you or be surprised he’s not out gunning for it. The election is 6 months out. If there’s no way you’re voting for him, nobody fucking cares what you want.

You can enjoy likely a 7-2 or 8-1 conservative SCOTUS that will be grinding down our rights for the next generation or three. Enjoy that.

@jeff Add away. Some of them aren’t even people. I mean, if everyone thinks Mastodon and the Fediverse are immune to influence from anti-democratic factions, same as every other platform, Trump has swamp land for them. It’s only one billion dollars. Same as the oil companies get!

@Snowshadow I have a great post on that from when I was on Twitter where I gathered up some tweets with an account over there that were all made at about the same time. I’ll put it up tomorrow because I get up really early and I’m sure I’ll still have accounts to block tonight.

Some fall. Some are the disinformation creators. And a lot do not know the difference.

@PamelaBarroway Thanks. I haven’t seen it in reality and I live in the 2nd largest Jewish community on my half of the state (having moved over from number one!) but I have encountered it now a couple of times here. Certainly not a smart call under the circumstances. I think Trump’s record speaks for itself on how much he values the Jewish people of the U.S. 0️⃣

This letter doesn’t have to speak for you and it won’t speak for everyone. But it does speak for the signers and writers and they are entitled to have their voice, too. You can listen to them and applaud their bravery, even if you disagree.

They get to speak. Their concerns and opinions are as valid as anyone else’s.

@JoeStewart I’m going to stop you right now. Denouncing something you dislike that’s happening to you doesn’t mean you approve of anything and everything else you didn’t mention.

Other student demonstrators are not being held to that standard. They are not responsible for mentioning it in the way you personally want.

Biden passed the biggest climate plan ever to reduce carbon pollution, created over 270,000 clean energy jobs and counting, enacted the first-ever U.S. drinking water limits on PFAs, and protected more than 41 million acres of public lands and waters so far.

Trump rolled back over 100 environmental protections, gave big oil a big tax cut, opposed addressing PFAs, and is the only president in history to expose more public lands than he protected.

A vote for Biden is a vote for climate progress.

(I tend not to boost things that are just a headline- the stakes in this are too high for me to not feel obligated to add some context.

I’m also dissatisfied with WaPo lately but that’s something else I guess.) 🙂

TonyStark,
@TonyStark@progressivecafe.social avatar

@GreenFire @Snowshadow I'm in the middle of something but I just wanted to add because it probably got lost that SnowS tagged me in a post from another account that just has the story as a headline with link.

I didn't want to just boost the story because I dislike doing that. It's very difficult to tell sometimes if people are approving are disapproving of the story when they do that. For me, anyway.

So I just put up the s/s with my what I thought was important context.

TonyStark,
@TonyStark@progressivecafe.social avatar

@GreenFire @Snowshadow Then I let her know off the public timeline so she didn't think I was ignoring her letting me know.

I just meant originally that I don't do the headline only thing because "GOP succeeds in eliminating emissions regulations" or something - who knows whether the posters likes it or doesn't or what it might mean for us. I always add comments.

TonyStark,
@TonyStark@progressivecafe.social avatar

@Snowshadow @GreenFire I try to be polite, LOL. Sometimes I fail.

But I always appreciate your help!

TonyStark,
@TonyStark@progressivecafe.social avatar

@Snowshadow @GreenFire I’ve been on social media probably too long but talking to people who don’t read and reply anyway gets on my nerves very quickly. So do people who go right to a straw man or something similar. I used to try and talk it out but it worked all of no times.

No politeness anymore there as I’m sure you have seen! 😂

It’s always Republicans who whine about how government doesn’t work and then they vote all these people in there that do nothing but try to gum it up.

She should spend some time learning how government works: creates bills with substance, gets them passed, the basics.

Maybe this gives some of that side of the aisle some idea that they can deny MAGA. And how much easier it would have been had they supported the impeachments.

One of the many problems with instances not dealing with antisemitism among their users at all or making a moderation announcement that borders on excusing antisemitism is that all the users who’ve been widely blocked, limited, and suspended elsewhere for antisemitism will notice your instance doesn’t do much about antisemitism and just start moving there.

Then your instance is filled with a whole lot of antisemitism.

Republicans’ declarations of support for Israel are simple to see through, but this is a good run down on most of the antisemitic tropes I’ve been seeing all my life.

So, don’t believe anything Republicans are saying about it. However, if you read it, you’ll see some portion of the left is using antisemitic tropes, also, over and over. Antisemitism is antisemitism. There’s no excuse for it.

@Snowshadow At any rate, no one said using the word “billionaires” is antisemitic. Cray-cray claim.
