I was born on my birthday and have been alive since then, except for that time I tried learning Java. It didn’t kill me physically, but I sure as hell died on the inside.

QTerminal, xterm, and of course, the good ol’ Linux console when I don’t wanna do anything graphical.

The best way to escape the doomer shit like you did on Reddit is to create equivalent Lemmy communities. For example, I personally wanted to see more Bingus memes on Lemmy, so I created !bingus so that the Fediverse could be graced with the presence of Bingus.

If you liked r/furry_irl and r/polandball on Reddit, and want to see that kind of stuff on Lemmy, all you gotta do is hit that little “create community” button and replicate all your favorite escapes from political nonsense and Linux memes (tho I must admit Linux memes are really cool).

Yeah, the Lemmy communities you create may not get as big as their Reddit counterparts, but that’s just kinda how it works around here.

Not to be that guy, but ackshually EarthLink was founded in 1994 and, for all I know, may or may not have offered email yet at that point.

Also, AOL gang here, we can’t be friends.

New to Linux? Ubuntu Isn’t Your Only Option (www.howtogeek.com)

Ubuntu’s popularity often makes it the default choice for new Linux users. But there are tons of other Linux operating systems that deserve your attention. As such, I’ve highlighted some Ubuntu alternatives so you can choose based on your needs and requirements—because conformity is boring.

My personal recommendations for beginner distros:

-OpenSUSE

-Fedora

-EndeavourOS

-KDE Neon

-ElementaryOS

-Zorin OS

-Linux Mint

Or you could just install ordinary Debian, since it’s stable and well-supported. Kind of a GOAT among distros, alongside Slackware.
