TruckBC,

I would be more than happy to take this community on as well as any other communities that need active mods.

I have extensive experience moderating on Reddit, including r/BritishColumbia until the current head mod there removed the whole team as we wouldn't tolerate his bigotry. The whole team that was removed continues to be in communication and work together on various things and can join me as the community here grows if needed.

I also run r/NiceVancouver and r/ADHD_BritishColumbia as well as some smaller ones at this point but those will migrate to Lemmy or another platform eventually.

@smorks I'll also reach out to you in private.

TruckBC,

Hey I'm more than happy to take it on so no worries!

TruckBC,

Whatever the community wants has a place in the banner. (If Lemmy even has banners? I'm brand new to Lemmy.)

My stance on community moderation has always been that it should be democratic within the moderation team, but also within the community with the mod team actively seeking input and feedback from the users.

TruckBC,

I'm trying to sort out how to get the word out effectively that I'm taking care of this community as well as /c/Vancouver.

I think that will set off a good pile of migration.

TruckBC, (edited )

Only 2 clients that I know of that can do Atmos sucsessfully is Nvidia Shield TV and running PlexHTPC on windows.

I can play Atmos and HDR no issues through PlexHTPC, can't get Atmos to work with the plex app on my TV's built in Android TV with the official app, no luck through chromecast or amazon TV Stick either.

Your B.C. gas bill could be dropping by up to $125/year; FortisBC's rate change will save B.C.'s residents an average of between $90 and $125 per year on home heating bills. (www.vancouverisawesome.com)

TruckBC,

This should help keep strata fees increases down too.

TruckBC,

Hey, I've been put in place as the moderator of this community as well as /c/BritishColumbia.

I have experience creating an offshoot community of r/Vancouver when I took over r/NiceVancouver.

The bot is a good idea but organically posted content is much more effective. I would kindly ask that at this time you turn it off for right now but I would be very interested in touching base with you in private to see what you can do with your skills to grow the community. I have at least one idea from a comment on this thread that would be easy to implement.

At this point unfortunately the bot comes off more as spam than anything positive that users will want to engage with.

Many people on Reddit know me, once word gets out that I'm here, the community will liven up really quick I think.

TruckBC,

I'm going to reach out to u/cyclinginvancouver and see if they want to come over here as well. u/xlxoo would be a good addition too.

If they aren't interested in migrating here or cross-posting here with their blessing I think a bot that cross-posts their Reddit submissions once they reach a certain threshold of upvotes on Reddit here could be very beneficial while making sure it's not "spammy"
