Honestly the PS1 and PS2 games emulate pretty well on Duckstation and the Nightly builds of PCSX2 (except for AC2, that needs the Stable)
You’ll just need to get used to the clunky tank controls.

I didn’t say it in this thread, but since you mentioned it I’ll concur: yeah after a tiny bit of remapping the shoulder buttons and d-pad, I actually got really into the old controls, and other than dual wielding, I actually preferred them over the later 3rd gen style. But both were usable. yeah I’m playing AC6 right now and I’m twisting my right hand into a knot operating the stick and the face buttons at the same time, but this is a kind of problem that every japanese mech game has… Gundam Battle Operation 2, EDF, the 4th and 5th gen of AC too. At this point I’m just used to it.

From what I understand in the trailer, Imogen’s fleet is being sent out after Karan, which implies they’ve been still out there until just recently. So Imogen has just been put on the position of Fleet Command, and still clings to her more uh, “human” emotions.

I have subscribed to OrcsKrazy:

The monthly fee is less than 2€ / 2$, and the person is putting out some really great Orc models.
Just saying.

Extremely blatant sock puppet promotion post aside, this does seem pretty cool. That is a nice looking Ork.

I feel like I’m about to get into these android based emulators. Which of the Retroid’s do you reckon I should go for? This new 2S seems really nice. I want mostly to play arcade games, PS1 and Saturn games. PS2 and Dreamcast would be a nice bonus.

Consider ESP LTD or Ibanez guitars? You can get A LOT of guitar for that money with these brands. Other than that, I’d personally look into PRS and maybe a Telecaster?

Or just upgrade your Epiphone Les Paul into a higher tier Epiphone LP, or even an actual Gibson.

Varyag,
@Varyag@lemm.ee avatar

Ah, alright then. Funny that you mention K-On, as I’m sure we both know by now, how many MORE kids have picked up Les Pauls because of anime again, but this time black ones because of Bocchi. Good thing I already had my guitar by the time I watched K-On back in the day!

Well, if you’re not happy with the Gibson design, did you consider similar guitars by other makers? ESP LTD Les Pauls are pretty nice, and if I personally were ever to get an LP type guitar, I’d get it from them. Or more accurately, an SG design, as I’ve always liked them more.
Or, you really just want to get something completely different, which I’d completely understand too. After so many years with an Ibanez RG style guitar, I want something different, and I think right now I’m craving a Telecaster.

Planning a pedalboard on a budget!

Good day guitar players of Lemmy, I’m planning a pedalboard for when I can afford them, to color my playing after years of using a shitty Zoom multi-FX pedal. I want to actually use “proper” separate pedals for easier dialing in of tones and being able to actually change the order of the effects. Now, I’m saying...

Varyag,
@Varyag@lemm.ee avatar

I could look into that. The first thing I really did when going after these pedals was look into more modern (compared to mine) multiFX pedals. I saw that there’s a ton of these new chinese brands pedals with many amp simulations and this IR thing, which apparently is a better way to model mic’d up cabinets. I initially considered them, but ended up choosing to go individual pedals anyway. Like I said, I’ll look into that NUX MG-30.

Varyag,
@Varyag@lemm.ee avatar

Yeah, the main thing that drove me away from multiFX modeling pedals was how ass most of their Fuzzz simulations sound. I guess I could do the same as you did here, and get a Carcosa and punch it into such modeler. It is a different avenue entirely. Can you play live with this rig tho, or only into the audio interface plugged into your computer? I’d like to be able to at least jam with a band in a studio or garage type deal, and I can’t be limited by a computer for that.

Either way, getting a Carcosa and punching it into the front of a modeler could be a good idea. Does it play well with simulated distortions and amps?

Varyag,
@Varyag@lemm.ee avatar

Okay I took a good look at some videos on both the NUX MG-30 and the Boss GT-1 and they do seem pretty decent. At least better than my old Zoom G2.1u, which is REALLY showing it’s age with effect modeling quality nowadays. One thing I think I forgot to mention in the main post, is that I REALLY want the “Orange Sound” with my rig. And I looked up the MG-30 manual, and it has literally everything else that I might want… EXCEPT for some kind of Orange modeling… So, now what? I guess that with this I could pare down the pedalboard down to 3: the NUX, a Carcosa fuzz, and some sort of Orange simulation. Which seems to me to defeat the purpose. Is it possible to download additional simulations into the NUX off the internet?

At least one other cool thing the NUX has, is bass effects and bass cabinet simulations, that will come in handy in the future.

Varyag,
@Varyag@lemm.ee avatar

Yeah the more I look around the better the MG-30 is looking. I’m still mildly irked at still using a digital multiFX modeler but it honestly does almost everything that I need it to.

I deleted my Facebook account ages ago, so at least thanks for that pdf.

Yeah, I’ve been watching nonstop gear review videos for the better part of a month now, lol. I did see the Behringer, but I really didn’t like that style of “chainsaw” fuzz or distortion that some doom and black metal bands use. Mooer, Donner and Mosky are all also potential options, as I did find them available here for much more accessible prices than the alternatives. The Wampler Tumnus is definitely the one I’d like to go for in a Klone pedal, as in the gear reviews I saw of it, it sounds completely identical to the original Klon. But there are several alternatives that sound close enough to it.

Neither here nor there, but yesterday I saw a pedal called Mudkiller, which claims to be both a colored boost and an overdrive. It’s by a brand called Electric Eye, and I don’t know if it’s supposed to be a clone of something else, but it sounded good. Have you ever heard of it?

Varyag,
@Varyag@lemm.ee avatar

Ooh no, I looked up how much an Orange amp would cost me. Let me give you another example while I look up how much would that cost me now: I wanted to get an LTD TE-200 guitar, which costs about $450 out there. If you get one of those in regular stores down here, it would cost me nearly $1600. That bad. An Orange Micro Terror with a 1x8 cab, the smallest and cheapest combination with tubes, would run me about $800. Maybe later down the line after I build the rest of the rig.

I keep hearing mixed things about Behringer. Somehow they have a worse reputation than many low price chinese clone pedals.

Having Lemmy alts is not a bad thing. Using them to circumvent bans very much is, tho.

I want to start PLAYING Doom Metal

Hey doomers. I’ve recently got back to playing guitar, after many years of not doing so. I used to play mostly classic rock and stuff like Metallica. Now, since then I’ve gotten bit by the bug of doom. Sabbath, Candlemass, Electric Wizard, Sleep, the classics of the genre and more. And now, I want to make my own sound. My...

I always like best-of-both worlds options, so I’m going for a guitar with good high output humbuckers and coil splits on a push pull pot. Ah yeah I did like the sound of C#standard when I tried it on an acoustic guitar this week, and I hadn’t thought about being near Drop B. That’s a bonus! I know about the Behringer Super Fuzz, but I really don’t like the way it sounds. Feels like rattling a tin can of nails. Or angry wasps. I do like Fuzz Face style fuzz, and Muff style, but I want something in between them. That’s where the Carcosa goes. I listened to gear demos and reviews of a million fuzz pedals on YouTube and I cannot think of any other that I liked more than that one. The actual ProCo Rat is a bit hard to get here, that’s why I was looking into the Joyo clone. Other than it having the issue of not working well under intense heat, it seems to sound just as well as a regular Fat Rat. And I don’t intend on playing under the summer sun at midday anytime soon.

I don’t play the tabletop, but I’ve been getting into the lore side of things over a few years, mostly through videogames and youtube videos. The videogames I can recommend, that are pretty fun and well made and do give you some lore into how things go in the 41st Millenium are Relic’s Space Marine (sequel to come out soon) and the Dawn of War series, specifically the first two games. We pretend the third one never happened. They all go on sale frequently on Steam or GoG. Also, I can recommend the immortalized classic “If the Emperor had a Text To Speech Device” on Youtube, and if you’re into reading and tabletop RPGs, the also legendary All Guardsmen Party.

I’m not too knowledgeable about Sunn amps, but from what I’ve seen, Fender set themselves up for a flop. It’s not only NOT the amp that doom metal people wanted, it’s also extremely expensive at $3,200 on a limited run.
