If you have game time and not a subscription it should be somewhere on page where you launch WoW. (It was there the last time I had game time, it might have moved since then.) If you have a sub I think you have to go to your account settings on the battle.net website and find the subscriptions section there to see how long until it charges you again.

It's more just them wanting what's convienent for them. They use Reddit a lot and having that disrupted annoys them so they'll attack what they see as the cause for that, mods privating subreddits. When they should really be complaining that reddit hasn't found a compromise yet to end the blackouts. While yes the mods could end the blackouts at any time and let these users use the subreddits again reddit could also at any time back down and stop the problem as well.
Makes sense, it's pretty clear Microsoft is trying to go for a monopoly over gaming. Kinda sucks a little since it would have been nice to have Microsoft clean up ABK like they did with Bethesda a bit. But that's also probably exactly why Microsoft is buying these companies, to avoid any backlash from consumers and make themselves look like the good guys.
So far hot has worked pretty well for me. Haven't really ran into the issues you mentioned with posts not having that many interactions near the top of hot, unless it's from a smaller community. My main problem I've had is when opening Lemmy after a bit or refreshing I'll get the same posts over again even if they're marked as read which is annoying and usually means I end up sorting by new. Would be nice if there was an option to hide already read posts. (Or if there already is one I'd be very interested in knowing where it is, also I use Jerboa mainly on Android so not sure if that changes anything either.)

There was an empire I used to try and make in the past when the life seeded mod was updated still that was essentially just like galactic zookeepers. They would seed life on most planets in their borders and just do research and interact with them. It was always hard to make it accurately because they're sort of xenophile as they find aliens interesting but don't exactly treat them equally. So I always struggled with what ethics to make them other then materialist.
I'm enjoying the new council system immensely! Adds alot more worth to the leaders of my empire and I feel like it really embellishes the story making aspect. Though it's no longer really viable to spam a bunch of scientists at the beginning of the game, but I feel like going one or two leaders over the cap isn't too bad of a...
I didn't end up buying the dlc or playing the update. I saw that it had mixed reviews and after being disappointed and annoyed at how underbaked first contact felt I just kinda skipped this one. But I'm definitely interested in what people have to say about it though cause it looks cool if they can fix the problems with it.
