How did they break into your cat? Was it a Being John Malkovich thing? Or was it a Ray Palmer in the Amazon jungle, Sword of the Atom, yellow aliens thing?

I eat what I kill. Why waste the meat?

You seem to be missing warnings for nanoplastic and microplastic pollution. Also a warning for perchlorate contamination from forever chemicals. And one for wet bulb temperature zones near the equator that require hibernation or protective clothing during daylight hours.

There is no chill 2080 utopia in our future.

I do like the icons, they were a cute distraction.

Xero,

Yeah, I think that’s actually the problem, I need to unsub from solarpunk because it cultivates a completely illogical view of the future.

Xero,
@Xero@infosec.pub avatar

No we’re not. We are just on the cusp of four shitty years. People are overreacting to a demented old man. There’s a long list of things the crazy fucker wants to do, and an extremely short list of things he will actually be able to do.

The media silos are feeding everyone panic pablum with a chaser of hysteria pills. We’ve had bad presidents before and everyone lived through them.

No it means exactly what the definition for alarmism says. You can choose to believe “it means nobody has to do anything about the problem and no one is to blame”.

And quoting Mein Kampf only means that the politician in question is either mentally disturbed or dog whistling.

I have no idea. I wanted a standalone alternative to Google Keep on one of my lesser used devices and this did the job.

Bought the license and it does what I need, plus it synchs to my encrypted storage on pCloud.

Why a Decade of Protests Didn’t Lead to Revolution | a new book discusses ten years of democratic anarchist protest movements and how they only served to empower right wing autocrats (jacobin.com)

Why is this solarpunk? Because changing society takes people power. Because protests change nations. Because for the last decade protests inspired by democratic anarchist principles have sprung up in nation after nation, from the Arab Spring to Occupy Wall Street. And the after action report of the first two decades of the 21st...

Peaceful protests don’t lead to revolutions, violent protests do. When things get so bad that people start to violently destroy the infrastructure then you get revolutions.

Revolutionaries start real revolts by terrorizing the powers that be.

I started working at age 13 back in 1980 because I wanted money to buy GI Joes, and comic books. So I started going to construction jobs with my shithead father on Saturdays and helped him put up sheetrock. My first legitimate job was the summer I turned 15, I was big for my age so I started doing deliveries for a furniture store, worked there for two summers until I was fired after a workplace injury. The guy I worked with was a racist Italian from Whitestone New York, and I was a smart slightly autistic black kid. His delivery truck only had one seat so I stood in the open door on the right side holding on for dear life. One day we were moving a heavy office desk upstairs and I was bringing up the rear, he lost control which resulted in the desk sliding downstairs and slamming me into a wall. My ribs were badly bruised so after I got home the store panicked and fired me, they probably thought we were going to sue. Anyway I went into a deep depression and couldn’t leave my room for a month. One of my therapists later told me that it was the first appearance of my bipolar disorder.

I was legally employable, and of age but still got hurt on the job. I just had shithead employers.

I initially read that as “fashion traitor” and pictured her wearing Gucci in a Prada zone.

I made an exception for Baldur’s Gate 3. I’m only human.

I’ve never had an issue with this. And no, I don’t know how to help you. Contacting the devs would be your best hope.

I keep seeing this nonsense in my socials. No a self sustaining dictatorship is not going to suddenly appear in America. It would probably work in almost every other country on Earth, but in the USA it’s impossible because of the individualist delusions all Americans are raised on.

I’m playing Baldur’s Gate 3 with Wyll as my mage, and two custom hirelings that I brought in to replace Shadowheart the cleric, and the vampire thief guy who I was really liking up until he tried to bite me. So I killed him. Also thinking about letting Gale starve to death because I’d rather sell surplus magic items. The heroic characters talked too fucking much, and I didn’t appreciate all their drama. Hirelings are quiet and they kill who I want them to kill without complaing about it.

I’m playing a half-drow elemental monk who somehow learned to play the lute and lyre. He’s black because I’m black, which is also why I wanted Wyll. I found a cowboy hat somewhere. Cowboy monk

I am 1,735,668,000 seconds old, and so I have seen some shit. Donald Trump is just an unseemly hiccup in an insignificant span of time. There were ghastly horrors before him and there will be ghastly horrors after him. These nuisances seem important because this is your now, you’ll realize how little they meant when this is your then. As in, it seemed so important then, while you look back at the Land of Then from the clear hilltops of After.

Content discovery is really easy for me on Mastodon, I can search for what I want via hashtag or a post, plus the people I follow and my followers always have nice suggestions. But if your instance has low federation, you might not see much.

No you need strong oversight. I saw from the inside how the Philadelphia school district squandered their funds on bullshit Apple laptops and computers that were never used, instead of the Linux desktops and kids were actually using daily. Chromebooks are just leasable ewaste.

The brain drain on Reddit now makes reading some of the forums I used to follow very painful. The level of discourse, the turn of phrase, the obscure references that now now end at the 2000s instead of going back decades. The depth of knowledge there has shallowed because the kids who grew up reading and upvoting our posts, who lived vicariously through our old ass generation, are now in charge, and many of them have no real world knowledge to share.

I remember life before the internet, I remember black and white television, I remember seeing the Beatles live on television, I remember how rap started because I was there, I remember nuclear drills because I lived under Reagan, I remember MTV when they played music videos, I lived through the first World Trade center bombing, and 9/11 in New York.

I went from the Commodore 64 and dialup internet in the 80s, to building my first computer in the 90s. I remember buying Red Hat Linux in a box at Barnes & Noble, and then slowly watching Linux get better, I even watched Android mature from nothing to where it is today. Working in publishing for two decades allowed me to see the development of ebooks. I even saw portable music develop from my walkman, to a CD player, to the bulky ugly ass mp3 player I defaulted to because I rejected Apple.

These kids on Reddit now remember some basic ass shit from the oughts.

I apologize for the old man’s rant.
