23.5.:
Warum?

Pantser hier. Also definitiv das Ende.
Tja.

323 — What's a piece of advice for writers that you listened to and are glad for?

I believe it was Marion Zimmer Bradley who said something like writing is 10% talent and 90% practice (or 20% and 80%?).

Anyway, I remembered that. And though I felt I sucked when I started, I kept on writing for fun, and now people who have never met me give my stories 4-5 stars.

322 — What piece of advice, as an author, did you once receive but hadn’t followed? Looking back on it now, you might wish that you had.

Don't switch POV in a scene.
Cocky young me thought, pffff, I can do that, who cares!
It took me weeks later on to fix the issue after I realized what that does to the reader.

May 21: Do you expect the reader to understand the mechanics of your story's time travel?

The... mechanics? Uhm, no. The logic, yes, but not the rest. I would have a hard time explaining it too.

May 22. (amended) If someone were to write your biography, who would you want to write it?

I don't want anyone to do that. Besides, my life is rather boring (which is a good thing if you compare it to the lives of my characters 🤣)

May 21. Do you format as you write or do that at the end?

The minute I know that something will be longer than just a scene, I do basic formatting. I'm writing in word, and it simply makes it easier to navigate the document if I've got headers, parts, and so on.
However, I do the final formatting for ebook, PB and HC only once I'm done. They differ too much, so it's 3 different docs in the end.

I final formatted yesterday!

May 21. Do you consider how your MC’s appearance may contribute to stereotypes?

Never paid much attention to that, tbh. But I never describe in much detail in the first place, leaving a lot to the readers' imagination.
That's simply because I don't enjoy reading lengthy descriptions myself.

21.05.:
Wenn ja, was passiert darin?

May 20: When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?

Had to think about this. My first reaction was - did I ever decide I wanted to be a writer?

But I do remember the day I first wanted to write a story for real, and even where I was - roughly ten meters from where I'm sitting right now, at my parents' house. I was 12. I hated the story I had just read. Mom said - well, do better.
I said, ok.
Then I went upstairs and started to write. Haven't truly stopped ever since.

319 — MC POV: Where did you grow up? What was your childhood like there?

Katja: I grew up in Mainz! A lovely town at the Rhine - it's so beautiful there! My father taught me how to swim and told me stories from his travels, and the house was always filled with sweet smells of spices and foreign goods. But then he died, and my uncle had to take me in, and that was less nice...
But I still love Mainz!

318 — What do you need in your writing space to help you stay focused?

Like others said - solitude/not being interrupted, and a certain kind of quiet. I can write with noise canceling earphones on a full train. I'm having more trouble when I'm sitting in the beautiful sunroom, and someone next to me keeps talking to me at random intervals.

Oh, and time.

#writerscoffeeclub May 17. Other than writing, what's your go-to creative outlet?

Music, esp. singing and dancing, and drawing.

I'm not good at any of these, but I love all of them, and they relax me.

317 — What clothing materials or outfits feel the most comfortable to your villain?

There's no true villain in , but if we take Brother Johannes, he most enjoys wearing his full Templar regalia.

So, I'm traveling a lot over Pentecost and will have time on the train. I can't quite decide which project to tackle first.

Whadda you think?

Final check of the translation of so that it gets done?
Start translating ?
Edit in which those books will feature?
Or screw it and just read the books of the author I rediscovered on Patreon yesterday?

May 16: What's your target audience? Why?

People like me, I guess. Because I always write for myself first.

So, people that love to read, don't like too much blood and gore, like some romance and don't mind sex, enjoy a happy ending or something akin, like strong female characters, don't like the alpha male crap or anything akin, like fantasy and history, don't mind people not being hetero, and enjoy if not the strongest and broodiest of 'em all gets the girl.

May 16: If your characters were in a museum, how would they act?

Depends on the type, I suppose. But everything that is further advanced than their knowledge in 1149 would have both Max and Katja gaping.
If it's technology of some kind, make sure to watch Max because he would so try to get into the exhibitions.

316 — Does your MC or SC have a hard time connecting with others?

Nope, quite the opposite. Katja is a sweet, empathic girl and people tend to want to take care of her in one way or the other. She's trusting too.

Max is a little less trusting (ok, a lot), but he easily makes friends. That they don't know his bitterest, darkest secret is another thing altogether.

The smell of spices, foreign goods, and the like. Katja's father was a merchant.

Who are your book's most and least gullible characters?

Hah! Apart from the little children, I'd say Katja is the most gullible and Max is the least.

No. And... I don't know. Maybe, if I ever have enough time.
