You know, I started doing #FangWatch for fun, but I'm really starting to notice lots of random characters suddenly fang in only one specific situation for no apparent reason. They don't show fang otherwise

It also usually comes after a uwu face too :neocat_uwu:

So I bought a gigantic negi and leek (both from China) to prove a point.

They look similar except the negi are a bunch of hollow green O's like straws whereas leeks are just layered green leaves, like peeling an onion.

The negi when cut smells similar to onion 🧅 and even has the sulphuric compounds to cause tears to form :ablobcatnodmeltcry: Leeks aren't as onioney, and have strong vegetal notes.

The interesting thing about negi is that 'Welsh' in the name is meant to mean 'foreign', because it originates from China 🤯 .

Unsurprisingly, it's used a lot in Asian cuisine.

@chikorita157 You were right, looks like the Snapdragon X Elite (stop using X, it’s been swastikad) is both fast and lasts longer (though since it’s actively cooled and I have no idea of what battery was used we’ll have to see about performance per watt).

Would be neat to have it in a Linux laptop. I don’t want an even worse Windows keyboard (the win and menu key was always moronic and inferior to meta, but it’s getting worse now!) though, and Windows with copilot+ is just incredibly super creepy. So maybe someone will finally build an actual Linux laptop with a sensible and useful keyboard.

I don’t even want to know what it’s reporting back on, but nothing you do on your computer would be even remotely a little bit private. That is creepy.

Apple better not be as dumb.

Honestly tho, I think we're pretty close to the upper limits of what engineering and material science can improve on. Newer stuff is just adjusting the balance of:

  • performance
  • power efficiency
  • heat
  • cost

Unless someone comes up with a new magic material or a company like ASML makes a new process, chips will just have marginal improvements.

How am I just learning about the live show of からかい上手の高木さん？ I have heard about the live movie coming out towards the end of this month, but not about the show.

Thankfully it’s available on Netflix in Japan. Currently on the second episode, I’m really liking the live adaptation they have done.

Cold brewed me some Gyokuro tea. Nitrogen makes for a very velvety texture that's much better than carbonation. And it has a sweet aftertaste.

Imagine the texture of a good canned beer, but sweet green tea.

Alright, now that I've settled down after my trip (and got sidetracked binging The Quintessential Quintuplets), it's time to recount it! :ChikaYay:

Day 1, we have an early flight but I managed to sleep a little earlier and wake up on time. Smooth trip through the automated customs for once (it has never worked properly for me all my life).

It started to rain, so we were a bit concerned about delays, but the flight went ahead as scheduled. There was a LOT of turbulence in the beginning though. We later found out in Japan that the rain got so heavy that there were flash floods later in the morning :neocat_googly_shocked:

Another new Xitter clone by an ex-Xitter exec, Maven, is basically using OpenAI to categorize posts, and using algorithms to generate a feed based on selected topics. So no 'following', just 100% topics based on algo...

In theory it's good, but it'll eventually just feed you mostly ads, because that's the only way to profit off social media. No following means all conversations would be topical instead of community, which is kinda like Deaddit.

I've been poking around this Maven Social Media thing... and here's some Hot Takes

  • Each thread has an AI-generated header image that is derived from it guessing the post topic
  • I suspect that a lot of the users are just AI controlled bots
  • The rest seem to be SV techbros that are aggressively supportive of the website :neocat_confused:

I guess the first episode is the only time Yasumi shows off her dual fangs. Only one fang here, but both the right and the left are shown at certain instances, but never at the same time.
