At 2113z, the resolution calling for immediate changes in #Poland's public media was acclaimed by #Sejm. Only 344 out of 460 members cast their vote, 244 in favour, 84 against, 16 passed on.

Somebody on X-#birdsite said in relation to protests in defence of TVN24, when PiS-dominated National Radio & TV Council was extremely reluctant & unwilling to extend a broadcast licence of this liberal, truly critical of PiS, news channel, back in 2021.

They said:

"TVN was defended from politicians by people.
TVP is defended from people by politicians."

Artur Molęda reports, there's no police near the #TVPiS premises.

He adds this is a change. Up until recently, police was patrolling Jarosław Kaczyński's home in Warsaw.

And look (2nd & 3rd pic) how fiercely he was guarded in late 2020, during protests against a near-total abortion ban!

At 0712z, #TVPiS disInfo relay in a National Mourning mode is still going on TVPiS 1 with "COALITION OF DEC 13TH ATTEMPTS TO UNLAWFULLY TAKE OVER POLISH TELEVISION, POLISH RADIO AND PAP (Polish Press Agency - ed.)

Per postings from a media chat I monitor, the relay carried on all night long, and was only interrupted for daily Holy Mass at 7am (0600z).

#TVPiS was so bad a place, so full of hatred & cynism that even a weather forecaster had to leave it in 2019.

But he'll be back to a new TVP.

"In June 2016, PiS officers kicked me out of TVP, where I had been doing various programs since 1990s and weather forecasts for 14 years. I was very sick of being thrown out, and when I escaped from the clutches of depression, I made my 1st weather forecast on Polsat on December 25, 2019."

His final wx segment on Polsat will air Dec 25th.

Now a curiosity: here's Wioleta Wramba, a Wydarzenia 24 (owned by Polsat) news anchor, reporting on events in TVP --- as she's rumoured to join TVP when the institution finally gets cleared of PiS officers.

Here are two screenshots of her, with tickers citing PiS MP Marek Suski, saying it's "a revengeful change", and Katarzyna Lubnauer (KO): "TVP was PiS' tube (mouthpiece)" #TVPiS

More strangeness meanwhile, as for some reason, #TVPiS 3 regional stations have split between its own national broadcast, which is, mostly, news (which became stunningly non-political recently btw), simulcast of TVPiS 2, and simulcast of TVPiS 1, which in turn still simulcasts TVPIS disInfo 😵‍💫

EDIT 1022z: #TVPiS 1 has FINALLY opted-out of TVPiS disInfo simulcast for ads and a repeat of yesterday's episode of a historical soap opera. Still carried on some TVPiS 3 stations also, while TVPiS 3's own service seems not to be running anywhere...
