It's interesting that my cheaper, smaller, steel-nibbed Parker 21 has a softer nib feel than its gold-nibbed big brother Parker 51.

I need help identifying this , it's a Senator piston-filler but idk what model. Seller approximates it as from the 50s or 60s.

The markings on the blind cap say 'F' and '212C'. The nib says 'GARANTIERT - 1, QUAL - 14ct 585'.

Hours of doing surgery on this was ultimately worth it.

Ink is Sailor Yonaga, btw.

art_buckweiser,

@paradoxmo I had to sand down the feed tube to fit the barrel, but the hood threads in unmodified.

It's become pretty evident that I have a type.

Today's is a lovely blue Sheaffer 440 <F> with inlaid nib, inked with Teranishi Guitar Melancholic Blue.

Today's is another Facebook Marketplace rescue, a Sheaffer Targa 1001 CT with what I assume is a medium nib.

This came with its original box, but has a janky barrel with a cracked inner threading. I still love how smooth it is.

Today's is a Parker 75 Sterling Silver, which is not bad for a random $30 pawnshop find just now.

Ah yes, the two major themes my collection falls into.

My feature today is my funky, ribbed Rotring 900. I have this as a set of an FP and stylograph.

Inked with Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki, for your pleasure~

Bit of nostalgia with today's - a Cross Century Classic <M>

Makes me think of the fancy pens my grandpa used to have that he didn't want me playing with as a child.

One of my favorite purchases of this year, the surprising Picasso 916. For what you're paying for it, this is a really nice, well-made pen.

Of course I got it in red and black, because there has to be an impostor among my Rotring collection.

Inked with Diamine Iridescink Robert.

On the topic of inks, this is my current daily office runner as of the moment - a 1979 Pilot Volex (because I'm a broke ass that can't get a proper Myu 601) - with Sailor's Shikiori (formerly Jentle) Yama-dori.

I like its not-a-blue blue nature, it really stands out when next to your typical blue inks.

That moment when someone goes “I am done with Twitter / X i can’t stand it there “

Everyone: Wooo yea! Welcome to Mastodon!

Only for them to say “ You can find me on BlueSky “

And your heart sinks with sheer disappointment. :raritycrying:

As i previously mentioned. Everyone is totally free to do what they feel is right but i am afraid that the current urge to jump ship to BS - perfect shortcut btw Jack really fitting…

Is sadly nothing short of a desperation and sudden conclusion.

It’s not looking good yo, it only brings more division to already messed up landscape of Social media triangle that fights each other over who is better and trying to buy themselves users through promises of better place.

People are just being toyed with and i don’t like seeing that.

Everyone deserves better and Twitter, BlueSky or Threads are not the “be all, end all”

We can do better :raritystarry:

art_buckweiser, (edited )

@Scraton I basically hedged my bets and opened a Mastodon and BlueSky account in parallel, as well as reactivating my Tumblr presence. I even have a Cohost account.

I feel like it's an uphill battle, moving away from birdapp. I doubt I can foster the same community volume I currently have there.

Sailor Shikiori (formerly Jentle) Miruai, a deep with a black sheen.

art_buckweiser,

@paradoxmo @jbowen I'm holding on to my small fleet of Rotrings, haha

I’m sure a lot of us users have OPINIONS about ballpoints. I certainly do! But as someone who is also a cursive writer, I found this article in the Atlantic fascinating. Thought you would, too. Do you have any use for ballpoints? https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2015/08/ballpoint-pens-object-lesson-history-handwriting/402205/

art_buckweiser,

@krystynlambert Writing on adverse paper conditions such as newsprint, carbon paper and other less than ideal surfaces where an oil based ink is more appropriate than a water based one.

My most pertinent use for ballpoints is signing construction drawings since there's a level of reliability and consistency a good ballpoint provides that my FPs can't.
