Every dog I’ve ever had (four now) has gently woofed in their sleep, twitched their legs, made little hooting or cooing noises, and all other manner of sleep talking. I even remember a couple times where dogs growled in their sleep. Dogs have pretty active minds when they’re awake, and so it’s no surprise that their dreams are lively too.
If your dog sounds like they are in distress, they might be having a bad dream. In that case you can gently wake them with a soft touch on the back and quietly saying their name. They usually will fall back to sleep pretty quickly. It would only become an issue if it happens with such frequency and intensity that they aren’t getting enough restful sleep over a couple of days.
In theory yes, although the moderation is pretty lacking. So people use it as tech support, ideological rants, yes/no questions, support with actually using Lemmy, DAE, and all other manner of stuff that theoretically doesn’t fit on here, and which is often low effort and doesn’t prompt much discussion.
Just to add, on Reddit it was segregated away from askreddit pretty early on in the site’s life because it was realized that there’s not much useful discussion that can come off a question structured in that way. Better to ask something like “do you do X? Why or why not”. DAE is mostly just people seeking approval.
At this point I just forgive myself for losing interest in really long games, and don’t enter into games with any expectation that I’ll finish them unless they’re a very compact experience. My two recent favourites that I actually finished are Duck Detective and Minami Lane, both only a couple of hours.
I figured a close stereotype for men, would be that they should all be farmers. The thing is, there are under two million farmers in the US as of 2023. So statistically, an equivalent occupation/role should have a larger number.
I took some marketing classes in university, and from my perspective the biggest issue is that the entire concept of marketing is based on lies. At no point were we taught that you should be trying to reach people who would benefit the most from your product, nor should you be trying to inform people what your product is or does. The sole purpose of marketing is to ensure that people buy your thing for the highest profit possible, whether that means convincing them the product is more valuable to them than it actually is, or that they need it more than they actually do.
Your goal as a marketer is to exploit every dark psychological trick that the field of psychology has ever discovered, all of the horrible quirks in human nature that cause us to do things that don’t make sense. All of the logical fallacies that constrain people’s thinking are the tools in your toolbox. Xenophobia, outrage, escapism, false dichotomies, etc. are the bread and butter of the marketer. There is fundamentally no difference between marketers and con artists.
To the people, is Firefox still the go to browser? Is there something better out there for the average person? I’ve heard good things about internet explorer.
I was curious to see what everyone likes to drink or snack on while playing D&D. I grew up on Mountain Dew and Doritos during sessions, usually with pizza if we playing through dinner (which we almost always did).
This controllable prosthetic, the Third Thumb, attaches to the right hand, granting wearers the ability to perform a slew of one-handed tasks such as grasping objects, opening bottles, sorting cards, and even peeling a banana.
There’s some really neat prosthetics out there. I’ve seen one woman who trained her brain to control a prosthetic tentacle that she mounted on her arm stump.
I do think we should normalize scrutinizing the sponsors for their shittiness, but not necessarily the content creator. They are just trying to pay the bills, and aren’t going to be aware of the problems with every company out there (though nearly every product that uses YouTubers for marketing is a scam in some way or other)
You would be immortal and all basic amenities essential for physical survival would be provided. You can have the age of your body according to your choosing and your mind won’t blow off by accomodating endless amount of memory....
I wouldn’t dream of suggesting otherwise. My point above is simply that voting for the lesser of two evils doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hold your candidate accountable for being… evil.
My initial comment in this thread was responding to someone claiming Biden is great and can stand on his own merits.
Also, you can see from that comment getting downvoted to oblivion within microseconds of it being posted that lots of people think any kind of criticism of Biden is bad.
“Genocide bad = Biden bad = Both sides are bad = Vote for third party = Trump gets into office”
Woah calm down there with that slippery slope argument. I literally never said any of that. I said I have no horse in this race. I don’t care who people vote for. If Biden gets in, that’s bad. If Trump gets in, that’s worse. If I was in the US, I’d probably vote for Biden. But then I’d be out in the streets protesting him for being an evil, senile, scumbag.
I’d take Biden at his worst over Trump any day. That doesn’t mean Biden is good, it means Trump is just that fucking bad.
Yeah I 100% agree. That’s exactly my point. The conversation here is whether Biden can stand on his own merits or whether the only thing he has going for him is that he’s not Trump.

Why do we hate commercials and advertisements?
This is a very softball question, it is not being asked for some legitimate purpose....
