Just a little rant. When I first visited Lemmy Sites a couple of months ago it felt empty. Besides the really mainstream community pretty much everything else just felt empty....
It doesn’t matter if the most upvoted comment is pro or against subject in discussion. All that matters is bolstering a comment that is minimally compatible with participant’s thinking and making it win against the opposite argument (competing and most voted one)....
I never really did this on the bad place but if you browse new and fire off something snarky or heartfelt first it often becomes the top comment in my experience
It probably wouldn't work with Lemmy, but kbin users could do it. Might give the fediverse more attention, but it would need to be more original than a r/place clone.
I think you are right about the normal users but I think they alienated a big percentage of top mods. I think the consequences of that are just starting to manifest.
Lemmy really needs filter words for times like these.
I’d also like to argue that they can’t talk about Reddit itself over there any more because of the pervasive manipulation and censorship so we should make space for that conversation over here.
