There was some heavy rain, I thought I heard thunder, with strong winds that banged things around, I was still trying to sleep, but now, I've given up.

Unless things freeze up, this might be a good day for my once-a-week run, get some groceries, pharmacy, gas up (before a price drops) & then I'm just going to poke holes in the snow. There's a lot of water under the snow, out back. I'll probably get wet feet, but I want to make a path to the compost bin.

As Bluesky is used as a guide to local BBS in Japan, we have chosen the expression 'crow', which is natural for Japanese people.

In Japan, both crow and raven are called 'karasu'. However, in Edgar Allan Poe's original story, the main bird is indeed a crow. I'll be careful from now on.

In Hokkaido, the 'raven' is known as a 'ワタリガラス(watari-garasu)' and is seen as a migratory bird in winter. It appears to be a noble bird that does not approach humans.

@Rasta A few years ago, there were a series of train derailments, and in order to identify the culprit, the railway company installed surveillance cameras. What they caught on camera were crows placing stones on the tracks.

Seeing your post reminded me of this episode.

Crows don't like stones and what they were getting out of derailing the train has deepened the mystery🤷

However, thank you for sharing your fascinating story about the crows!

I am amazed at how fast you absorb knowledge, even with audiobooks. In my case, I don't have much concentration and end up reading the same work for more than a year. I would like to emulate your spirit of trying new things.

It's dangerous that the roads are icy, but it makes reading that much easier 😃📖.

I see, the audiobooks do have convenient functions. One can say your ability is high as you actively make use of them.

To be honest, I'm the type of person who gets lost even within 100 meters from home if I lose my concentration, so I still read paper books.

But I do use e-books for craft patterns and instructions. I print out the pages I need and take notes while referring to them. It's nice that with the times, ways of reading books have also diversified and become more convenient♪

In Japan, the rate of suicides is increasing.
Unceasing incidents suicide or homicides among families due to living difficulties persist. Hence, there are voices saying that we should follow the path of Canada.

In other words, the argument is that if people can't get welfare benefits despite having living difficulties,they should be allowed to choose euthanasia, as in Canada.(2/4)

There's a casualness concealed here that suggests people should choose death in situations like "If I'm just going to go through endless outpatient visits struggling with depression and mental disorders..." or "Caregiving burdens the family".

However, it's certain that Canada, with its mature societal outlook, has a system that in no way aids suicide. In Japan, administrative services seem to be non-existent.(3/4)

Even if a system similar to Canada's were to be implemented in Japan, just like the welfare protection system, there would surely be high hurdles set.

The procedure should not be made easier than jumping onto railway tracks. The problem lies in the society where people jump onto tracks. I believe this should be the focus of the issue.(4/4)

This isn't something designed to aid people who may have a passive suicidal tendency due to challenges like joblessness, insufficient income, or the distress of medical visits. I hope the people of Japan understand this distinction.
