Ah trop bien qui vante la répétabilité et la facilité de changement de pièces sur plein d'années : l'APN principal de mon FP3 (2019) ne fonctionne plus. Je présuppose un problème matériel. Les pièces ne sont déjà plus produites. 😒

Me reste plus qu'à redémonter l'appareil et revérifier si tout est bien connecté.

Your friendly reminder that criticizing iPadOS does NOT mean:

  • "dual-boot macOS"
  • "put macOS on iPads"
  • "you want to turn an iPad into a Mac"

It's completely fair to ask for more from iPadOS while keeping it iPadOS.

Anything else is a distraction. Do not let those distractions invalidate your opinion. But expect more and more over the next few days.

A $3,000 Mac has the ability to run iPad apps. It shouldn’t be controversial to suggest that a $3,000 iPad should have the ability to run Mac apps

@stroughtonsmith But iPad apps on the Mac are a last resort. Yes technically they are a Mac App in a single window, but the lack of touch in macOS makes them not fit in. It will be the same for macOS apps on iPadOS, and you can already tell by using Sidecar and Apple Pencil to interact with Mac apps.

These new iPads Pro are clearly the best iPads ever made, and most powerful hardware in this form factor by a long shot.

Which is why it pains me that the most excitement I can drum up is an exasperated sigh

@stroughtonsmith Maybe because every YouTuber and Apple reviewer out there screams that their is a problem with iPad, never tell what the problem really is and gets pissed at Apple when they upgrade the iPad because "what they upgraded was not the problem".
Special mention for those who applaud the landscape camera (which brings hardware incompatibility with Apple Pencil 2nd Gen) and get mad at Apple for not supporting 2nd Gen Pencil on the new iPad...

Tiens, ma montre ne s'est pas mise à l'heure d'été 🤔

(Elle est sensé rester à l'heure en utilisant les signaux DCF77 allemand ou MSF angloys — plus l'allemand depuis Paris je pense 🤔🤔)

Comme elle fait sa synchro la nuit, je lui laisse le bénéfice du doute jusqu'à demain

@shaft Y'a un truc relou avec les appareils connectés (en NTP), tu peux difficilement forcer leur synchro ni choisir quel serveur même dans les options avancées. J'ai eu pendant un temps 2 tels (iPhone les 2), un chez BYT et un chez Orange. J'avais un peu moins 30s de décalage entre les deux. Moi qui aime bien quand tout est au même niveau 😅😅😅

@shaft Yep j'ai une station météo comme ça. Elle indique que le temps est synchro via DCF, elle check toutes les heures je crois.

Oops, the recently released #dnspython 2.6.0 added support for the EDNS NSID option, thus breaking my check_soa scripts. Need to add temporary dnspython version check

Is there a way to use an iPhone as a controller for the Apple Vision Pro simulator? I suppose the iPhone would need to simulate a game controller.

When I had my PlayStation 5, I utilized its controller to navigate rooms in the Apple Vision Pro simulator, and it provided a much better experience than using a keyboard and mouse. I'm curious if I can achieve the same using an iPhone. Perhaps I've stumbled upon another side project? 😄

So say visionOS launches without the ability to download ‘key’ apps like Netflix, YouTube, TikTok, Google Docs, Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Ivory, etc, how excited would you still be for the platform?

iPad was bootstrapped off of iPhone's success, and there was no meaningful opt-out for apps so basically everything ran on day one, and there was a strong incentive for devs to port to native. Giving a checkbox to opt out of visionOS, though, I feel is going to prove to be a huge mistake

@stroughtonsmith Except Ivory all the apps you mentioned aren’t available on MacOS and I don’t think that it’s a game breaker for macOS, then why would it be for visionOS ? (Even if this Toot is sent from my MacBook via Mastoot for iPad…)
So the checkbox may not be a mistake, but making it mandatory would not have change anything if we make a parallel with the porting of iPadOS apps to macOS.

@shaft Je me suis toujours demandé si c'était symétrique d'ailleurs ? Par exemple si je regarde la durée du jour (lever/coucher du soleil) 42j avant le solstice et 42j après. Est ce qu'ils seront identiques à la minute près (genre 8h22-19h43) ou juste en durée ?

@macgeneration Je pense que de notre côté de l'Atlantique les résultats seraient bien différents. Nous n'utilisons pas "SiriusXM" et le DAB. Il y a beaucoup de MP3 via clé USB ou BT et évidemment le fait que l'équipement radio des véhicules de base est différent des US.

@BasicAppleGuy What I find funny about those two is how they both represents how Apple sees the iPhone and not the Mac, even if we didn't know at the time that the iPhone was coming.
Since Mac OS X was going to PowerPC to Intel, they were already thinking about what language to use for Dashboard that would not need Universal Binaries -> Web Apps and 2 years later iPhone is full web apps.
And now it's all about SwiftUI.

Je suis en train de tester "Power BI" au taf et si vous pensiez qu'Excel était nul sur les dates, rassurez-vous on peut faire pire : en triant par date croissante, Power BI me met le 31 août après le 27 septembre. Sachez aussi que la date qui suit le 1er août est bien évidement le 1er septembre. 🫠🫠🫠

(J'ai l'impression que le machin est configuré pour avoir un format de date US, car nos maîtres sont US)

@shaft BI est le fils d'Excel et de MSSQL (là où Projects était le fils de Excel et Access). Forcément les dates vont être fuckees. Mais à part ça c'est un produit de dingue. C'est ultra puissant.
