catastrophicblues,

Yeah donating is a lot easier to understand when wages are (low) 6 figures instead of 8 or 9.

catastrophicblues,

A good step, but seems like spilled milk after the previous news.

catastrophicblues,

Does this include Apple Silicon Macs? That would be a bold move.

catastrophicblues,

How much Rust do I need to know to use Tauri?

catastrophicblues,

Huh, that’s neat. From their docs it does seem like aside from some scaffolding, I shouldn’t need to write much Rust.

catastrophicblues,

Oh god I feel so called out. I wish I paid more attention to my commit messages but I’m usually too busy fixing the directory structure and refactoring. Sigh.

catastrophicblues,

Yeah I worked at a place like that, but it made sense because we were also expected to keep PRs small, so a good commit message for several squashed ones was perfectly fine.

catastrophicblues,

Without a good export feature, this is completely useless. I don’t want my journal to be another reason to be locked in to Apple’s ecosystem.

anyone who prefers editing videos on your smartphone, what is the best video editing app in your opinion?

I prefer my smartphone because I literally don’t have a desktop/laptop computer and no desire to get one Because sitting up working on a computer is bad for my posture and it hurts my back so everything I do on my “computer” Is done on my smartphone, I’m laying down with my legs propped up. It’s just how I am....

catastrophicblues,

It’s not really editing, but I like being able to make the most basic edits on the go. Cropping a video, maybe adding a text bubble. iMovie is sufficient for my use case.

catastrophicblues,

James did a great video covering this article. TLDR is that the article endorses RDT, but with about 4 spritzes of water instead of the normal 1. Moreover, it points out that this can lead to increased extraction in espresso brewing.

catastrophicblues,

This is the second time this month some overzealous moron decided to add these because they can be used for burner accounts, as if other services cannot. People like this are why we as a species haven’t advanced more.

catastrophicblues,

Here is their technical report. I’m yet to read it, though.

catastrophicblues,

I’m pretty excited, honestly. From my limited testing, its answers are typically more elaborate when I ask it to explain a concept to me, and it also has some level of fact checking via Google Search.

catastrophicblues,

Just keep whatever you enjoy listening to. I bought both the originals and the TVs, and I listen to the originals if I prefer that version for that song. Any music manager will handle the two versions as distinct albums.

catastrophicblues,

Changed my sleep schedule to 6pm-2am. I get to be up at night while making it to morning meetings.

catastrophicblues,

It’s a good first step imo. It maintains compatibility with Google apps, which as the author notes, would be needed for it to not be a dead project. It’s a pretty good balance.

That said, I’m not familiar with Graphene, so I could just be wrong.

catastrophicblues,

They’ll just lose my business and get a stern customer support email then. I don’t do business with companies that exclude Proton/Tutanota/Skiff emails.

catastrophicblues,

Same. That said, sometimes it’s a config error. I sent a very annoyed email to a website that didn’t work on Firefox, only for them to tell me that it was a bug and that they fixed it.

catastrophicblues,

Yeah, on its own this is a good feature and I don’t have to write my own version based on the GDPR data request.

catastrophicblues,

That’s crazy. This is why they tell you not to do drugs.

catastrophicblues,

Yes I noticed the orange vibes too! I still haven’t figured out what the bracelets mean besides the obvious Karma reference, but if they’re teasing TS11 I’m so hyped!

catastrophicblues,

I have a few questions about a home NAS, if you don’t mind. I see a lot of love for both Synology and NextCloud. Which do you prefer? Also, do you think it’s worth having NextCloud on a cloud machine? How do you access your NextCloud instance outside your home network?
