Something I've been struggling with for a while now...

The web used to excite me! I'd find writing code exciting, and new tech in general (not just the web) inspiring.

Now, if I take a break or go on vacation or whatever, the idea of the web and tech feels draining and completely uninteresting. It's what I generally want to escape from.

I can't really decide if I changed or the web did. I suspect a bit of both.

I appreciate you writing this.

I would like to add that I think the skepticism around the "State of..." surveys in particular is that a particular type of developer answers them. They're overwhelming white, overwhelming male, and overwhelmingly skew towards using popular libraries.

Their behaviors are often not representative of the web community at large.
