chipt4,

Was just telling my friends, had one of those instances where I lost a run, so I closed the game with the intent of going to go so something else, then found myself opening it again 2 minutes later… so addictive

chipt4,

A fellow penetrator enjoyer! The medium armor penetration is just too damn handy. I’ve tried switching it up but I always end up coming back.

The slugger is probably my #2, followed by the regular sg225 (auto shotty).

keeperrl.com

This recently got a 1.0 release. Sort of in the same vein as dwarf fortress. Has a commercial version, but there’s also a free version that lacks the graphics and sound of the paid version, and is open source.

It’s been on my radar for years but I’ve still yet to try it out

chipt4,

When the article was first posted it said "Published in 2025…”, at least they corrected that heh. But yeah factorio had been around for a couple of years by then.

chipt4,

It’s definitely in addition to dst, look at the southern states… the blue/cyan is 50 minutes (plus 60)

A bit off topic but certainly related, I just heard about this:

…simtropolis.com/…/762980-the-future-of-sc4-moddi…

Thanks to the efforts of those continuing simmaster07’s line of work, namely Null 45 and memo, these sorts of revolutions are about to become more commonplace, bringing with them everything from improved game stability on modern systems, to long-requested new features and quality-of-life (QoL) improvements. Null 45 has already released over a dozen DLL mods on the STEX since November, one of the most recent of which allows more Building Styles. While I can’t reveal too much at this point in time, I will note that DLL files will become important components of major SC4 mods in the very near future. Suffice to say, we’re entering a very exciting time in the SC4 modding community.

Edit: the caveat being, these will only work on the digital release windows version of SC4

chipt4,

Do you really think someone out there is going to see a random post where a guy says he has uploaded a bunch of… something and decide to try to investigate to find out what?

That’s not how it works. Even if he had included actual torrent names in the screenshot, the chances of someone caring enough to pursue it are infinitesimal.

chipt4,

Nintendo owns a stake in the franchise, but doesn’t do the development

chipt4,

I personally think we’re close to the high water mark, might see 2.5m, maaaybe 3 but I’m skeptical. You’ve seen most of what the game has to offer after 10 hours, and the jank + lack of story is sure to cause lots of people to bounce off of it pretty quickly. I think given some time it’ll improve, but by then you won’t get these crazy peak concurrent numbers.

chipt4,

TotK and Wonder were far from what I’d call filler… and from memory, Nintendo has a track record of releasing big name games at the tail end of a console’s life cycle (tp on GC, botw on Wii u)…

I admit they’re likely releasing the switch successor soon, though they’ll likely continue to release games for the OG switch for a few years to come…

chipt4,

I was definitely in the “played less than an hour” boat. Believe I got the demo from PC gamer, tried it (after reading a lot of the backlash) and never really gave it a chance. Based on your comment, I may have to correct that.

chipt4,

Certainly can’t check for dead before coffee

chipt4,

The latest pi (5b) has a pcie connector that will allow you to connect sata drives, but I don’t know if there’s a commercial product for it yet…

chipt4,

Tell me you didn’t read the article without telling me…

chipt4,

Yep this and/or wheel weights or buckshot

Edit: also might add some sort of grippy, non-slip material to the bottom so it’s not entirely relying on sheer weight. Also, hot glue can secure the weights in the cavity so they don’t rattle.

chipt4,

He’s talking about 6~(?) months ago, they ditched the android specific codebase and ported the iPhone app to Android (“unified the codebase”) which made a lot of things shittier on the android side of things

chipt4,

Yeah I imagine it’d work great for an exclusive HTPC/10ft UI… steam’s big picture mode on Windows was often a bit awkward/buggy for me (I have it hooked up to my living room TV via HDMI)

chipt4,

100%

The soundtrack from the first game is in my top 5 OSTs of all time (FTL probably edges it out a little, and crypt of the necrodancer just below it)

Super excited to dive back into this game, one of the few games I got 100% achievements in when I played it on my vita years ago.

Edit: Spotify link for the OG OST: open.spotify.com/album/10ZDr7VkJP1YyQaSgKa0pV?si=…

And the OST for Returns: open.spotify.com/album/0rlpmIIOpykorXItVS0oAf?si=…

chipt4,

This one, Michigan and Carrie & Lowell are my faves

chipt4,

Odd that there’s no mention of Russia’s Luna 25, but it lists India’s mission that landed a couple of days later…

chipt4,

How adorable. I 100% agree, I had two pet rats years ago and they just don’t live long enough. Never again, heh… Dogs only for me from here on out

chipt4,

Maybe a remake of age of oracles/seasons a la link’s awakening? Also the rumored re-release of WWHD & skyward sword.
