Hi @roptat, I’m setting up gitile and notice its self-hosted homepage at https://git.lepiller.eu/gitile is currently down (gateway time-out).

just had some dragon fruit with quail eggs salad, dressed in a dash of salted vinegared white wine, and it was rather decent

Oi @steffo, did De Cecco (why is de capitalized BTW) get more expensive locally? The price of its pasta jumped up 50% here since I last buy some (around the end of last year perhaps, I restock every few months), unlike most other dry goods here. Luckily that supermarket started to stock felicetti so I came home with 2.5 kg of its stuff.

Hi @efraim, @fd9a and @Z572, I just got a VisionFive2 for my home server and plan to run Guix System on it. Is it often for RISC-V systems to build packages locally? (I don’t have any faster machine of that arch and QEMU with binfmt runs really slowly and failed to build me certain packages when I tried to build an image.)

If there are often cache for base packages, may I ask you a favor of building a minimal image for the mentioned SBC?

PSA: Christmas-themed (ironically) Easter eggs can be naturally revealed today. Here are some that I know:

  • Hedgewars
  • mpv
  • SuperTux 2
  • SuperTuxKart

This list is incomplete; you can help by expanding it. I’d prefer to only be informed of those for libre software, but who am I to tell you what to (not) do?

Dear , consider hosting a macro blogging platform as well if you haven’t already. Especially if your system is not on a major hosting provider, this could greatly help decentrialize the web. Poll what your users, friends and love ones might prefer, whether it is a SSG or CMS and syndicates via web feeds or emails, and help them set up and/or migrate there.

I’m asking this after noticing suggestions for Substack users to move to WordPress.com or Buttondown. WordPress.org is libre software and a good candidate for CMS; migrating to its flagship server on the other hand is not much better than transferring all eggs from one basket to another, technically and socially.

I know this is not a small request and none of you owes me any favor, I just hope some of you will agree this is the right direction to head in. If anything, hosting a (largely) static site with a rather low post frequency (almost no one is @pluralistic) should be relatively much cheaper in system and moderation resources compared to your current fedi instance.

please use an inclusive language when refer to mouse buttons: as a leftie, i feel marginalized when instructed to left or right click; instead prefer neutral terms such as primary and secondary for mouse buttons

Hello , I am trying to set ibus-table up (for my native language), but can’t get ibus-setup to recognize any of the tables. Is anyone willing to mentor me? I’ve already got ibus-table and ibus-table-others packaged.

After reading your discourses in the last couple of months/years, @bonifartius, @tyil and @koherecoWatchdog, I’d like to recommend you the RighteousMind.com, available in our local library™.

Public post because the recommendation is not exclusive, the book is quite fascinating IMHO even if you don’t participate in heated conversations very often.

Next Chromium release will require unreleased LLVM:

The Chromium 114 beta uses features from LLVM 17, but will release before LLVM 17 does. Currently, it looks like it wouldn’t be too hard to patch to make it compatible with LLVM 16, but in general, we don’t have any guarantee that Chromium will build with a released LLVM.

why be people starting to capitalize every other common english noun? is this a sign of capitalism has evolved into nazism in the commonwealth?
