Dear UK residents. I’m sorry to be tedious, but I’m going to do the trans Cassandra thing again.

The government is now moving towards regarding trans people as effective children until the age of 25.

This will be established as precedent and then used to screw over any and all young adults who can’t escape from abusive parents, especially young women.

If you want to do anything about this, you need to fight for trans people. Yes, you. Now.

We all know that isn’t going to happen to any significant extent though.

@goatsarah not a area I know a lot about, but are they increasing the age or recognising in law for the first time. If the latter then it is progress, even though it is not a great start but it gives a point to reform from and bring it to a more acceptable level. Patience is required for change otherwise you scare the establishment. Look at the changes to the laws and the acceptance of homosexuality since the 60’s.

It is probably not of a great deal of comfort but try to think positively, you were lucky enough to know and experience part of your grandmother’s life with her, some people do not get to do that, mine passed when I was too young to even remember her so you have your memories.

I see the "force dudes to get vasectomies as that is reversible" post is going around again. Whilst I understand the spirit that this post is trying to get across, the idea that a vasectomy is a good method of birth control that puts the onus on the dude rather than the woman, is serious misinformation. There are some vasectomies that have been reversed, but the chances are pretty damn low and no practitioner would ever say to a patient that everything will be fine as they can just reverse it when they want.

Can we all just focus on educating boys and men on how not to be lazy, self-centred assholes, to take responsibility for themselves and not leave it to their partner? Or even how about we stop idolising those idiot alpha dudes or voting christian evangelists in to positions of power.

@KellyandRoger why not go Orwellian 1984 and do this at age 13 and then you can only father children when the state deems you are in a suitable relationship and are medically, emotionally and financially eligible then you can have it reversed ?
