If everyone did that, we wouldn’t need these laws. But alas, the general public doesn’t seem to give enough fucks about their own privacy to change things on their own.

Edit: Guess it isn’t a law, but their policy. Same principle applies.

I don’t follow sports nor care enough about pop music to really know what was going on. I truly though she would be performing with the sheer amount of press on the matter even here. What the hell did Republicans think she was going to do inside a luxury box other than have weirdos snap photos of her drinking beer?

And why do you think this needs to be a Republican vs Democrat thing?? Interjecting politics into everything isn’t a good look. I really don’t even see where that came from because I have friends that are Democrats and that’s what they watched the Superbowl this year to see. I also have Republican friends who also watched the Superbowl to see shots of her. All of them are Taylor Swift fans, and not football fans. So you have to bring up political views for what reason? I get it, politics are polarizing, but it gets quite tiresome when people on both sides of the aisle feel the need to make everything divisive. We have two teams playing a football game, isn’t that enough competition and division for one day?

Dear sweet baby jesus, I come back to my comment and it’s been nuked. No, I have not been paying attention here evidently, and nor do I care to. I don’t give a shit what political pundit on either side are saying. I mean this is in the asklemmy channel, not the politics channel, so I think my original statement still stands. You guys/gals do realize that by making an issue of whoever is turning this into a political issue is just adding fuel to their fire. The best thing you could do is just ignore them. Wow.

Yeah, I was downvoted to hell in a copyright thread for suggesting that my work had worth and that I wasn’t just freely handing it over to the general public. Sounds like a bunch of 12 year olds that have never created a fucking thing in their life except for some artistic skidmarks in their underwear. These kids have a lot to learn about life.

Which is why I really hate the fact that the programmers and the media have dubbed this “intelligence”. Bigger programs and more data doesn’t just automatically make something intelligent.

Well the average career is 30 years. So you think that if I was to start a photography business that at the end of my 30 year run, half of my career should be publicly available? That means that people could use half of my life’s work without owing me any compensation? Copyright protects a lot of small creators, not just Disney and the likes.

Way to sweepingly generalize something. I had to use copyright laws when I was a pro track photographer. I found out that one of the drivers owned a printing shop. He was telling people to purchase one photo from me at my price and then turning around, scanning it in, and re-printing them for the customers at a lower price. Same exact work, so you can’t argue about the quality. This fuck was also taking my images and using them in advertising which was also a copyright violation. This isn’t about who took the better picture as I was the person behind the camera. It’s about protecting work, that in my case involved time and actual sweat each and every weekend I was out in the sun. But it seems the majority of people in this thread think that he was justified in stealing MY work.
