😭 I'm so sick of everything being martial in the US. I'm not surprised that they are so strongly polarised: everything is modeled on war, with 2 sides & win-lose rules. Unlike the more complex (& yes, difficult), multi-party dialogue some other systems foster.
Even everyday idioms & metaphors are military, misogynist, war-like. Notice what you read.
We're all affected! Ex: I refused to use the ICF's 'captain & crew' exercise. I wrote a complaint. (I see it's no longer in the curriculum.)
👀 "I know from experience as a prosecutor how seriously the Secret Service takes every single threat … made against the President of the United States. They take it seriously even when it looks like the person making it lacks any capacity to carry it out. They always check. They always have the talk. …
It’s unthinkable, unconscionable for a former president to even intimate that violence against the current president is acceptable."
\o/ Marie Kondo "is open with followers… I realised always maintaining the perfect state of tidiness was not my goal, but spending time with my kids is. That’s what really sparks joy. …It’s just that the idea may no longer always be attainable”.
“In the past, I didn’t have the idea of a temporary location for items.”
"Trans men enter Miss Italy pageant in droves after trans women are told they can’t compete
Trans activist Federico Barbarossa entered the Miss Italy pageant after its organizer said trans women weren’t allowed. His protest went viral and more than 100 trans men signed up."
👀 "Analysis of Beethoven’s DNA has revealed that he had a low genetic predisposition for beat synchronization, an ability that’s closely related to musicality.
This is according to researchers who set out to show how making genetic predictions for individuals, including famous historical figures, can be fraught with danger."
"4 Ontario school boards have launched legal action seeking $4.5 billion in damages against social media giants, accusing them of disrupting students' fundamentalrightto education …
The lawsuit claims that "social media products, negligently designed for compulsive use, have rewired the way children think, behave, and learn, leaving educators and schools to manage the fallout," the boards said in a statement." https://mstdn.ca/@erin/112176690990620997
