When I was in Denmark I was shocked how many cameras there were, everywhere. I mean not just in the city, but everywhere on the countrywide.

Also Denmark is one of those weird countries where its illegal to have your map software tell you where the speed cameras are.

In general, it feels like Denmark loves panoptic surveillance.

Sounds like you haven’t lived in Denmark for a while. Homes have cameras, beaches have cameras, forests have cameras, roads have cameras

Whistleblowers allege widespread abuses at Israeli detention camp: Palestinian inmates being beaten, kept shackled to hospital beds or made to stand for hours (www.theguardian.com)

Prisoners held at an Israeli detention camp in the Negev desert are being subjected to widespread physical and mental abuses, with at least one reported case of a man having his limb amputated as a result of injuries sustained from constant handcuffing, according to two whistleblowers who worked at the site....

Imagine cuffing someone so long and then amputating their hand (sometimes apparently without pain killers) because of the wounds you inflected.

Free the Palestinian hostages now. And make Israel stop kidnapping them

Half of these bullet points are just observations about humanity

Is it really too hard to import audio tracks after editing in audacity. I’m glad kdenlive doesn’t waste time trying to be an audio editor.

rclone, but there’s no GUI

Where can I learn more about how human voice is normalized for movies? I’ve noticed a big difference in the audio of old movies and some shows, and modern high-budget movies. But I can never pinpoint the difference

You linked to a shitty website that blocks hardened browsers instead of the article on Ars. Downvoted.

Please re-post with a link to the actual article.

This. Please collectively downvote. This sort of thing is the proper use of the downvote button.

delirious_owl,

Downvotes are not “I disagree with this person”

A downvote used properly is to bury misinformation, low effort posts, off-topic posts, and as you say - violation of rules or attacks on others.

This is an example of a low effort post that can easily be misinformation because it cannot be verified.

Eh, I don’t like better support for 3rd party repos. I’d rather devs meet the criteria to put their apps in the main repo.

The standards are high for a reason.

Matrix has problems, but lack of clients and users isn’t one of them

It supports unencrypted messages. Lots of metadata is not encrypted (eg all reactions).

Many orgs cant use software where users can send messages unencrypted. Its a security risk, even if the user did it by mistake.

Why? SO has no authwall, all its content is CC BY-SA, and its better indexed than Lemmy.

SO hasn’t (and legally cannot) lock their content up like reddit. You can email them and force them to send you their entire DB of content so you can fork it to create a mirror if they ever do actually become unusable.

Alternatives to Google Docs/sheets?

What are people using in place of Google docs/sheets/etc? I’m looking for a simple program that syncs with the cloud so I can access my documents on my different computers or my Android phone. I run Windows 10 (don’t crucify me). I use libre office for things that can stay on one computer, but for things like school notes,...

Why is “German” in the title if this was in the US? Sounds like xenophobic rhetoric

delirious_owl,

Wtf you didn’t link to the article?!? Downvoted.

Lol did the title change or did I misread? Hard to say because op didn’t link to an article ffs

Why do you say that? I’ve put several through a washing machine and gone swimming with mine. Electronic usually are fine with water. Batteries are not.

Just let it dry out before passing a charge through it, and it works fine. Not so easy with paper.

BTW the standard way infosec reports protect (potentially) malicious domains is with this syntax

timappziaaomrpyiivzijuat4obusumxoipcrw5rinugcfq4bffuenad[.]onion

Its also to prevent search engines from indexing it
