It's automated with Ansible, pulling ZFS snapshots from my beefy HL15 rackmount NAS, and it's sipping 8.5W while doing so. More to come, here's the story so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8EIs8s303k
@geerlingguy#sanoid & #syncoid are really neat. At some point I was even using a #raspberryPi 1 as a backup host, no need for a lot of power/bandwidth if you don't deal with terabytes of changes at once :)
How painful/expensive is it to aggregate more instances? Because if I'm not mistaken, you need to subscribe to them for their use of the hashtags (e.g. when I tagged #EuroPython2024 from a small local instance). Or maybe I should have tagged the official account to cross the boundaries?
@simon I wonder what to make of an llm chat (local model) answer that abruptly stops. I got relatively consistent results by following it with "continue", but it stops again and there's an ensuing ping pong match.
Do you know what's happening? Maybe it's related to the token limit?
(In this case it's the Llama 3 8B Instruct.)
@sabderemane@carlton was the discussion in the last #DjangoChat (ep. 161, about making meetup talks available to the greater public) so fruitful that it's going to happen for this one in Paris? :)
@carlton#iaPresenter looks nice, too bad it's Mac only! I especially love the idea of writing plain text and having the tool make it nice without too much hassle.
Hey @ia, I'm casting a vote for a #Linux port!
@carlton@ia wait, what? Isn't it just a case of changing the target of the UI toolkit? /s
Unfortunately you're right. And I suspect Linux is rarely the target of choice for paid-for software.
@carlton@ia maybe the /s for sarcasm isn't as universal as I thought it was ๐ฌ.
And with some (bad) luck, they even rely on some platform-specific features only offered by Apple & Microsoft.
@brianokken@mijustin currently cooking! I used to listen on my way to work when I was commuting, it inspired me to improve my testing skills and directly pointed to solutions a few times too. Now I'm listening out of habit and continued interest whilst doing chores.
(Partway through the episode, and thought it'd be funny to reply to Justin's prompt.)
@wsvincent in the latest #DjangoChat episode, you mentioned a talk in Boston happening in the coming days about the User model (leaning on @carlton's ideas). Will you link to the slides here when ready by any chance? #Django
๐ At EuroPython 2024, our reviewers are at it going through more than 600 proposals!! If you know one, give 'em a cheer! And if you're a reviewer, keep going strong! ๐ More reviews mean an awesome schedule! #ThanksReviewers ๐๐
@europython I went through 3/4th of the proposals so far. There are too many interesting proposals, even more so than previous years I find. What a nice predicament to experience!
Especially excited to see (relatively) many people wanting to share their stories and retrospectives (which has been historically lacking from soloists & small teams), #eventsourcing for all knowledge levels, and more nuances on #pythontyping (it's not a yes/no story for #python ).
