Greeley really illustrates everything wrong with PBOT's approach to bike lanes. It's well-protected but also has no way to get out if you're alone with somebody you don't want to be alone with at night, has a poorly-time traffic signal at the end, a weird crossing of Interstate at the other, and then riding in the painted lane on Interstate is a non-starter for so many people. How, exactly, do we think this over-engineered piecemeal stuff will get people out of cars?
Without republicans and our two-party voting method, who would vote for democrats? I bet Dems would win more elections if they worked harder on that question.
I'm afraid we're doomed to repeat (or lose) the tug-of-war with fascism until a vast majority of voters understand the ease with which money manipulates a choose-only-one or ranked runoff voting method. Maybe it's because the marbles in jars method could be cheated if you had extra marbles, nobody thought you could put a marble in more than one jar? We can't require voters to line up behind their choice and have a fair election with more than two choices. It's sad how many don't get this.
The bird.makeup link might start working in 24hrs or however this thing works. Somebody tell me there's a different way to do that. I don't want to link to twitter of mess with screenshots.
chrome update wtf, if you're not running with "use system titlebar" enabled, the minimize, maximize/restore, and close buttons vanish when you maximize the window. Between this and moving the tab finder button back and forth, my faith in disabling auto-updates has been renewed, yet again.
Trying to figure out how to unravel the political, cultural, and institutional brainworms of #CarSupremacy... with cars-for-brains democrats cancelling #CongestionPricing plans and trying to somehow fool themselves into making the DOTs solvent "with equity and climate as top priorities" is only going to further burden the poorest of kids with subsidies for the wealthiest of drivers. Agencies that build roads for cars are fundamentally unequipped to fix this problem & so is our political system.
for filling watering jugs, I'm trying to find some simple float nozzle thingy that would allow a few jugs to be filling from the rain barrel while you are watering plants with one or two (used 1gal milk jugs) but I'm not finding such a thing for less than $32 each fancy fuel nozzle, that seems to have a spring/trigger thing. It's going to fill with algae and get clogged with junk / a pain to clean if it's anything more complicated than a floating ball in a slotted tube
how is the default setup for gvim on ubuntu such that we have a 3rd clipboard? Apparently I still need that 'cb=unnamed,...' bit from my circa 2002 .vimrc.
This needs to be broken down by which Agile. Was it the waterfall process with no requirements gathering, the scrum and methodology instead of code method, or the actually putting something that runs in front of stakeholders and iterating?
USPS from the other side of Portland to SW, package was sent on Wednesday... the status, last updated Thursday, is "In Transit to Next Facility, Arriving Late". 😒 wtf #FireDeJoy
trying to imagine, for the last half-hour, what tree is possibly still standing in my neighbors yard such that they need to make this much noise cutting it down and grinding it up, or maybe this is just their annual laurel trimming
Not sure whether I'm more sad about the state of Portland's transportation/city politics, or the most influential voices shooting vertical video and posting it only on twitter and tiktok etc. Maybe the two are related.
