(point of clarification, before anyone asks: these appear to be the changes I wrote for hid-nx, merged into mainline for release in 6.8. I didn't have anything to do with the merge or anything. just happened to find out randomly. I'm mostly relieved I can abandon hid-nx now.)

    Haunted by the conversation I had with an arch-WASP historical-costumer-cum-high-end-lighting-salesman at a party last night who, when I asked what a "placket" was, explained "It's the part of a button-down shirt where--" and in a perfectly measured beat, caught himself, looked me up and down in the way only gay men can, and asked "--Do you own a shirt with buttons on it?"

    One of my favorite things about Rust is it's one of those rare programming communities where there's a culture of actually documenting shit, and one of my least favorite things is that for no reason I can discern, there's a hole in that culture of documentation, a hole cut precisely in the size and shape of Cargo "features", which crates incredibly frequently have multiple of that they either just don't document or document somewhere entirely other than you'd expect

    Wanna write a “nanokernel” whose only job is to start a program, and for anything else that program wants—file access, memory, whatever—it has hack into the kernel space and steal it for itself. Also gonna figure out how to invent adversarial multitasking.

    @indirect right well if there is no scheduler handing out time slices of processor time, no other process gets time to fight. They’d have to plant signal traps in other processes, take over IRQs, or something
