@farbel@Mister_Eel@Adam_Cadmon1 something tells me that, AS A EUROPEAN they kinda have to accept whomever is elected as US president without having any say in it.
Maybe take care of your own reading comprehension before you jump into someone's shit to talk about their cognitive dissonance, huh?

A columnist in the 1880s lamenting the death of “good speech” and long-form letter writing… felled by the fast pace of society, the telegraph, and postcards.
It's #Fedivision Friday, and to help the participating musicians along I've dedicated this week's #OPM write-ups to covering some of the entries. I couldn't do all 72 (!) but I did do all 16 of my mutuals' entries! Read them here:
And revel in the wild variety of music of the Fediverse. From doomy cyberpunk techno to giallo-inspired twee psychedelia, this is a deep class, with lots of intriguing music to discover. Dive in, and enjoy!
If you're a mutual who submitted a track to Fedivision and I missed it, I sincerely apologize. I went thru the list twice but artist names don't always match y'all's @'s that closely, and I have almost 2k mutuals so there's a decent chance I overlooked an entry or two. If that's the case, and you mention it kindly to me (either in response to this thread or in a DM) I will make it up to you by fast tracking you for future OPM coverage (and apologizing profusely 😅).
Oh, and not that anyone really cares but in case you're wondering, I won't be voting in the competition. For one, I don't like treating music competitively (no shade, I know it's all in fun, just not my thing) and for another, I don't think I can listen to all 72 entries, which I'd want to do if I was going to single out 3 as the best/my favorite.
You're all my favorite. Everyone did great, nice job!
@KydiaMusic Well, one of my mutuals ( @bittersweetdb ) suggested I do some coverage and I needed a way to get it to a reasonable number of pieces to cover, and mutuals seemed like the obvious choice. It was barely manageable 😅
The folks who covered all of the entries are hardcore!
I'm so unfamiliar w/the Doors' music beyond the obvious songs that I heard "Peace Frog" on FMU recently and it took me a minute to register who it was. Sounded perfectly OK to me, and vaguely contemporary till I caught Morrison's voice. The Doors-haters cult is a strange thing.
@mrcompletely@dmandl absolutely. I am a Doors hater (as much as I'm a hater of anything, which isn't all that hatery TBH) and it's precisely because they're so overrated, especially Morrison. Whenever people call him a "poet" I just cringe because, yeah, he's a poet alright, in the same way every 15-year-old who ever wrote their angst down in rhyming couplets is a poet, and about as profound.
They're a C-tier pop group with like 5 good songs and a great atmosphere/vibe.
@mrcompletely@dmandl I don't mind if you (the generic you, not you specifically 😅) enjoy them but if you try to tell me they're one of the GOATs, we're going to have a spirited discussion and I'm gonna say some things that you won't want to hear about your favorite band...
Overrating and over exposure still get to me to some degree, even as I've mellowed into my "all music is good music, it all depends on who's listening" stance.
Just finished listening to and writing impressions of all 16 #Fedivision entries from my mutuals (apologies if I missed someone!) and two things leap to mind:
Love the variety of tracks overall, and how distinctive and non commercial all the tracks I heard were.
Those of you writing about all 70+ tracks are hardcore! I am wrung out covering less than a quarter of the total!
Anyway, look for the post first thing tomorrow morning at mt blog, or in your email inbox if you're subscribed!
