The Hiroshige show at the Brooklyn Museum is a must: impossibly detailed 19th-c woodcuts of Edo (Tokyo) in luscious color. The McCartney photo exhibition at the B.M. is also required viewing, defying my low expectations. Damn, the guy took some great pictures.

@JamesGleick I'm no Trump supporter but I think in this case he was worried about what would happen if his protector (with all the incriminating dirt) died and that stuff fell into someone else's hands.

Good to see this big piece in the NYT now, I guess, but the problems with 401Ks have always been clear. When I tell people the actual time of a gig I'm playing I feel like Penn & Teller exposing Three Card Monte dealers. I've never liked the practice of announcing a showtime of 8:00 when it's really 10:30. Since 8:00 shows occasionally do start at 8 this is impossible to navigate.

It's a good feeling hearing a session when I was absolutely certain I'd played like shit and my playing is actually OK. It's remarkable how inaccurate these impressions can be. Unfortunately this can also go in the other direction.

I don't like this stupid device. and I'm sorry the decision was made to install it in my building. Instead of having someone simply ring my bell, I get a ridiculous text message like this, which requires five minutes of fiddling with devices while my friend is waiting outside.

Interesting fact here. Trump's "What if Pecker gets hit by a bus?" has been widely portrayed as mob-speak for "Let's get him hit by a bus," when just the opposite was the case. Trump was worried about what would become of these secret files if something happened to his protector.
