Xscreensaver has apparently been checking for updates and is disappointed that it hasn't had one for 14 months because Debian is too stable. Can anyone recommend a linux screensaver which would work with xfce and can be trusted to never do that?
Maybe ironically, the dev acutally makes a good case for why Wayland should be the future in that post. (Crashing the screen locker doesn’t cause it to display your desktop instead)
I use Proton. But I continue to run into more and more websites and services that detect my VPN and refuse my connection, or just run literally 40 captchas in a row until I just give up....
It still had issues like handling 8-bit colors in ascii art incorrectly last I checked a few years back, with that pr already being a few years old then.
A readme file for Dylan Araps from 3 days ago saying “have taken up farming” and the github page for neofetch has also been archived. Good for him I guess.
As a user it’s definitely harder to get into than apt or dnf. However, as a packager, it’s very easy to package new applications for pacman. That’s also why the AUR offers this many packages often not found in other distros.
Generally /usr should be managed by the package manager, /etc is for global custom configs and the user home is user specific.
/var shouldn’t really be config, mostly logs or webservers for some reason.
It’s a distribution completely centered around the Nix package manager. This basically allows you to program how your system should look using one programming language. If you want an identical system, just copy that file and you’re set.
I’ve joined Linux clients to AD domains before, but I didn’t know about Fleet Commander. (admittedly, I didn’t really look) Might be something to play with for a bit
What VPN are you using?
