for more context: not of people (that would be general privacy laws i'd imagine), but of trains or advertisements or whatever else you encounter. but naturally, regulation might not be that precise.

@petersuber @senficon not sure if my post with the screenshot federated. background: a year ago i was writing a paper for class on fair dealing vs. drm in educational settings. while researching i happened to find Open Access (the book) on ebookcentral locked behind what i'd assume are technical protection measures. i accessed it through my university (it was linked in the uottawa library system) so i don't have a link, but i attached the screenshot again. the restrictions are highlighted. it's been a year so things might have changed.
