tbh, up to 80 years ago Europeans were in constant war as well and nobody else drew their borders
EU had to be created to finally stop French and Germans from killing each other
I always feel awkward when asked my favorite color, song, or any other type of trivial question. I have my standard responses I remain consistent with over time, but they are only consistent lies. Are those types of questions fundamentally awkward to you too?...
I understand these questions as conversation openers rather than actual questions.
Having one “favorite” anything let alone something as vague as a color, is impossible. And the person asking doesn’t really want a specific answer, they just don’t know what to say so they also follow a scripted questions they’ve heard before.
So I will respond with something like “I listen mostly to Genre A and Genre B. I’ve been to the concert of Band Z recently. What’s the latest concert you’ve been to?”
Or “I try to wear bright colors in the winter, to try and compensate for the gray days and cold nights”
Something related to the opening question but doesn’t have to be a singular answer. More like your general opinion on colors followed by a question so the other person has something to latch onto for their turn in conversation.
Not ideal, though. A mixed area would have been better. Acknowledging Occitan is important but it gives the false impression that a majority speaks it. And it goes way too north.
If I was in Embraer leadership I’d be scrambling to design a jet in the 737 class right now. It’s just one step up from what they already make. Embraer is already popular with US regional airlines and would be more acceptable in the US market than Comac.
Hey all! I’m wondering if someone can help me pick between these two apps. They seem to be the most commonly recommended Android front-ends for OpenStreetMaps, but I’m wondering what the pros/cons/differences are. Thanks in advance!
Big pro for Organic Maps is rendering speed. So smooth and perfect…
Everything else is on the OsmAnd side. It’s loaded with features, everything you may want and more. But rendering lag is so annoying that I’m using Organic by default.
How did they define “internet”?
For example if you asked my grandmother she would have said she never used internet. But we had video calls all the time.
I’m also kinda wary of saving cards in the browser. So I created a virtual card with a spending limit for that purpose.
Although there’s more to fear from malware stealing saved passwords. Fraudulent transactions can be reversed, identity theft will do a lot more damage.

That is exactly their goal. They openly state it, and I respect them for that.
Federating with others was never really what they wanted. It’s a semi-private discussion space with strict rules.
Previous government efforts to boost the sale of seal products have also failed, noted Fink. As an example, she pointed to a 2014 plan which recommended the Fisheries and Oceans department try to revive the market for the sale of seal penises.
Any mass expulsion is an attempted genocide (or successful in many cases).
So many people aren’t going to drop everything and leave their homes unless something worse is implied if they choose to stay.
In which cases is this actually useful, as opposed to having a centralized database? Blockchain doesn’t provide the enforcement of ownership, which is the real problem.
Autopistas and Autovías are excellent. The question is for how long? Spain has build too many roads (most per capita in Europe) and is running out of money for maintenance. Tolls are getting reintroduced this year to try and cover the cost.
Don’t know about his linguistic work. As much as I can gather, even if not 100% correct he was hugely influential in linguistics. This is a how (good) science usually works. Someone postulates a theory which tries to explain a thing, and is then proven and/or disproven. If well done it stays important even if disproven.
However his politics? It’s a barely coherent mess with only one basic postulate - “America bad”. Anything that US does is automatically bad. Anything that any enemy of US does is automatically good. Turns out to be correct sometimes but there is no true moral and philosophical underpinning to it. He build his political career on the “even a broken clock is right twice a day” principle.
