I really loved this post by Kevin Newton and the Shopify team about the new Ruby parser, Prism:

So much Ruby history!

a banger of a proposal for the HTML spec:

an HTML Attribute to state non-consent when scraping for training datasets.

I watched Kevin Newton's RubyConf 2023 talk about the "prism" parser today and it's a GREAT talk

Stick around for the Q&A afterwards, it's inspiring.

If any Rubyists are using bazel, I'd love to hear what you're using it for? I want to know more!

Context: official ruby rules were recently published at https://github.com/bazel-contrib/rules_ruby

OK, real talk for a second. It's incredibly bad form for OSS community members to shit on open-source software because it doesn't meet all your needs right now.

The whole point of open-source is: help make it better.

Do: File bug reports with the project. Describe your use case that isn't covered yet and help the maintainers prioritize. Contribute code if you're able.

Don't: write long twitter threads shitting on the software and the people who are trying to make it better.

Cheers to @jemmaissroff for migrating ruby-lang.org's stale wiki to https://github.com/ruby/ruby/wiki

It looks great!

Shopify is still committed to invest in Ruby and Rails, but very sadly the Ruby and Rails Infrastructure team did get smaller today.

Some of the most competent engineers and finest humans I've ever worked with are now available for hire. Can I make an intro?
