Of all those, I’ve only heard of Heztner. Am I out of touch?

I’ve been a Linode customer for years, and I used to use Digital Ocean as well. I’ve been happy with them, did you consider them?

Backup Game Saves Solutions?

Hiya, quick question! Do you have a system for backing up or game save files? I recently discovered GameVault, but the client seems to be a bit unfinished, from first glance, do correct me if I’m wrong. Are there any other similar clients like this? And or simple solutions for easy finding save files and backing them up?...

Ludusavi does it all for you, works great, and the dev implemented my feature request within a few weeks (handling a mounted Windows drive better)

Comcast: "Starting today, new and existing customers can take advantage of the following speed increases:

Connect: 75 Mbps to 150 Mbps,
Connect More: 200 Mbps to 300 Mbps,
Fast: 400 Mbps to 500 Mbps,
Xfinity Prepaid: 50 Mbps to 200 Mbps"

The marketing fluff doesn’t, but they actually did increase upload speeds. Mine went from 10 to 20 up. And here is the DSL reports forum thread from when this round started.

Also, they are testing larger increases. I could get 100 up today, if I had a supported modem.

So, check your actual plan and modem to see what you have now.

None that article, but check my other and check your plan. You may be pleased, I was.

Solo mode isn’t offline.

Few will frown on you, as you’re not affecting anyone if you do. (More people will frown on actively doing power play in solo)

As an alternative, you could build your ship to be a bit sturdier, so you can live long enough to escape to another system.

But last time I did that, in my extremely shielded trading cutter, I kept getting pulled by the same person, even after I demonstrated I easily got away and they couldn’t dent my shields. So you still might not get anything done.

Have you set your system to prefer it in gai.conf?

wiki.archlinux.org/title/IPv6#Prefer_IPv4_over_IP…

You said enforce in the post, but prefer in a comment. Do you mean prefer ipv6, or disable ipv4?

forbiddenlake,
@forbiddenlake@lemmy.world avatar

Yes. 2019 comment from cloudflare: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=19828702

On my network, I send dns requests for only the archive domains to a DNS server that archive likes. Adguards, in this case. Everything else goes to cloudflare. Both adguardhome and unbound can do that.

I used to use FairEmail, but one of my email providers (a school using Microsoft 365) blocks FairEmail. So I haven’t tried it with this watch.

I could, but I’m not asking about the bug here; I’m asking about allowing K-9 to use alarms and reminders like the release notes said.

Would it be faster to just get a mining laser and shoot asteroids than landing on planets and scouring for resource nodes when it comes to gathering materials like phosphorus and manganese?

Driving around on the planets for these things is maddening. They’re so far apart, barely drop what I’m looking for, and there’s never really any danger to break up the monotony....

forbiddenlake,
@forbiddenlake@lemmy.world avatar

The raw material notes in that sheet apply only to legacy. For live, it’s the same planets, but you either drop in the blue and look yourself, or you navigate to some known coordinates. …frontier.co.uk/…/live-4-0-materials-farming.6107…

Why are there SO MANY brown dwarfs?

The most common star in both the real galaxy, and the game, are red dwarfs. There are about 1 brown dwarfs for every other star type IRL. Yet whenever I am going any long distance, the route is 90% unscoopable brown dwarf stars. The odds are insane. Is it just how the routing system works? Does the damn thing just purposely go...

forbiddenlake,
@forbiddenlake@lemmy.world avatar

Brown dwarves are under 20% of the galaxy:

www.edsm.net/en/statistics/bodies

You could be in a region where they are more common, but more likely you’re exaggerating for effect, while not recording the distribution scientifically.

I was happy with my cyber powers for years, but then the batteries died (official replacement batteries, after 3 years - the originals lasted 5) and the ups just stopped even passing power through. This is someone’s old blog about this blog.networkprofile.org/cyberpower-ups-avoid/

The recent webp vulnerability is a bit concerning.

I might get the 8 next week. It’s supposed to be a little smaller.

Need some help. Duckdns reverse proxy doesn't seem to be working.

I’m setting up a jellyfin server, and want to access it on the internet. I created a xxxxxxx.duckdns.org address for it. I have installed caddy with duckdns addon (first installed regular caddy, then overwrote /usr/bin/caddy with this custom caddy). My caddy file is as follows...

forbiddenlake,
@forbiddenlake@lemmy.world avatar

Ping is not a good way to test http, because they are completely different protocols, and can be blocked separately or not. From what you have posted so far, I don’t see a problem being demonstrated. Your caddy log here also shows one successful request. So: define “not working” better. Are you testing from a browser? Via curl? From where? To exactly what urls? What message do you get back from your browser/curl?

Tried the @Vivaldi browser. A good example of when "the more the better" doesn't work. Sure it is an IMHO.

Still very interesting. Having your emails and calendars integrated into a browser is a good alternative when OS-built-in tools for this are crap.

Now back to @firefox.

It was posted from mastodon. That’s also why it sounds like a completely random tweet and doesn’t fit in with lent Lemmy.

Pixel 4a (not 5G) owners, what do you plan to do with your phone now that it reached its final Android update? (lemmy.world)

This month is the final month of guaranteed major and security updates, and we already know Android 14 won’t land in the Pixel 4a (though it will in the Pixel 4a 5G as it has guaranteed updates until November)....

forbiddenlake,
@forbiddenlake@lemmy.world avatar

Sure, here’s a standard unengineered MC/pulse setup: s.orbis.zone/mwdc

Change the small pulses to gimbaled if you have trouble aiming fixed weapons (don’t make the medium pulses fixed, their convergence is too bad).

If you’re going to add a scoop/ADC/SCA, replace some HRPs (the smaller the better).

Watch the power: one of the SCBs is off for a reason. If you end up needing it, turn an empty SCB off then then the off one on.

System Link Error: Security response unavailable (i.imgur.com)

I have picked a mission to kill a pirate. I had to go scan a fuel thing on a planet, and it sent me to this location in a different star system. When i get there, and exit hyperspace at the location, nothing is there. I get a warning that System Link Error: Security response unavailable...

forbiddenlake,
@forbiddenlake@lemmy.world avatar

The message is normal and means the police won’t be coming for any reported crimes. But I don’t know about the mission.
