How do you budget for subscriptions, supporting developers or projects? How many “it’s just X a month” can you sustain? How do we encourage this model? What do you feel about this model?

@deshipu I’ve never found that a barrier to subscriptions but it certainly makes me consider very careful what I subscribe to.

I am so deeply, deeply tired of every god damned "can be answered with a tutorial" technical question search being overwhelmingly flooded with videos. I don't want videos. I don't want to listen to something I can read. I am at least 50% deaf. GIVE ME WORDS DAMN YOU. WOOORDSSSSS!

Tonight on "what the frisk?", a Raspberry Pi device tree overlay that works fine on 32-bit Pi OS, but on a 64-bit Pi Zero 2W it kills the WiFi. I have no idea where to even start figuring this out.

I'm so fed up of helping people with their code on Discord.
Rarely does anyone even say thanks. More likely I'll get told it doesn't work (because they applied it wrongly)

@jtruk I’ve noticed a trend among people coming for help on discord but in the interests of maintaining good diplomatic neutrality I will refrain from mentioning it’s that they’re dumb as bricks.

@jtruk I think it’s because asking in a chat context is about the least effort way to learn and understand something unless you’re really discussing unsearchable bleeding edge knowledge. It’s mostly just folks asking other people to google for them.

@jtruk I think some people thrive on being hand-held through topics, and some will learn and grow into useful members of a community. Others… not so much 🤣 But yes what counts is a little recognition and gratitude. I tried to work this into the CoC on the unofficial Pico discord.
